2011 Spring Da Hung Pao

Hello every one my name is Sandie. I just came from Seattle and there I attended the Northwestern Tea Festival. As a tea freshwoman I looked for the most knowledgeable and the most kind individuals and obviously tea businesses that were advertising them selves. Lots of shops had many types of Rooibos, (which I am not a fan of), some Green Tea, few vendors with Matcha, and few shops with Oolong ( my favorite).
Interesting Modern American Tea History presentation with James Pratt but I was not there for the conviction. Looking around to find the best tea spot to stand by, I stumbledupon Smacha display and decided to spend more time there. They had a great variety of tea anyway and impressed me with their Tiquanyin. …Comes this weird guy out of no where and starts asking for the owner. So I think James or Jason (sorry can’t remember the name)comes to him and they start talking about tea. Difficult to hear I came a little closer to listen because the enthusiasm rouse just a few hundred degrees in that place. After just a little time the guy says that he is representing a tea club that is based in New York and wanted the owner to test some of his collectable tea that he brought from New York for some tea master to test. He had the tea in a air proof resealable aluminum bag (which seemed to preserve the smell and taste really well). I requested for the smell test as well (just in case they were gonna avoid other observers). The tea smelled really well, chocolaty, nutty, flowery. I became impatient because they were talking for quite a while and were sharing the tea smell with other visitors. So jumped in front of others with a bunch of question. The yong mans name was Ricky. He was a rep from New York Tea House sharing his tea with the common folk. I really liked him because he was very down to earth and was willing to talk to every one and share his knowledge but he was always in a hurry so I did not want to delay him but requested (more like demanded a sample of his tea). When I came back home and tested the test to the instructions I was given I really loved drinking this Oolong tea. It was very smooth. Very Springy like was really there ( sitting on a peak of a mountain drinking tea). Lots of Roasted hints (very memorable taste). Rick was out of business cards but made it very easy to find club. He said the website is under construction (due to conversion in to an e-commerce site) but soon will be a fully operational local Tea House.
