Steep Information:
Amount: 1 teabag
Additives: none
Water: 1 flavia cup full of hot spigot water
Steep Time: a little over 3 minutes
Served: Hot
Tasting Notes:
Leaf Smell: Black Tea, spice
Tea Smell: Black Tea, a bit of spice
Flavor: smooth black tea, couldn’t find the spice
Body: Medium
Aftertaste: cinnamon, then slightly bitter
Liquor: dark brown, barely could see through to the bottom of the cup
There was a film of oil on top after brewing, overall a solid black teabag, but not as spicy as I was rooting for.
Post-Steep Additives: none
Resteep: was a little weaker and a bit more bitter but very drinkable, it also colored to a nice dark brown
I drink chai just plain (or steeped in coffee) when I want something spicy, but not milky in texture. Or when I’ve consumed my 1 serving of milk and don’t want to over do the calories. My favorite non latte drink at starbucks is a tall double shot double pump (each) mocha caramel americano w/ 2 chai bags.
I’ve gotta go full out traditional prep when it comes to my chais. It’s about a 30 min process.
Holy crap Lena! Please share your process step by step. P.S. I got my teas! I just need to find a ride to the post office and I’ll send yours out.
For a person that is very picky about their tea/spice ratio, I LOVE that they list it. I wish more companies would.
