From Harney & Sons

This is a popular flavored green tea. The base for this one is a traditional Gunpowder with a hint of lemon added to brighten the flavor.

hmmm
What can I say, I love gunpowder tea but after yesterday’s somewhat disappointing Canton green/orange experience I was not expecting too much with this one…

Gunpowder is one of my favorite green teas, I love the bold and assertive nature of it. This is VERY lemony and bold, slightly vegetal but mostly lemon. I am finding it quite refreshing this morning. I bet this would also be really good iced.

When it comes to flavored green teas I am loving the flavored gunpowder, Moroccan mint is also nice. I think perhaps it’s because the flavoring does not overwhelm the gunpowder since it’s so bold.

This is yummy! If you like gunpowders check it out… it also resteeps well

Moroccan Mint is one of my favorite gunpowders!

TeaBrat

Me too – and I don’t even like mint flavored things usually…

Dylan Oxford

Moroccan mint is indeed awesome

From CrowKettle who got it from Fiddling.

Yep, I still do like this tea. Needs more lemon, but it’s an older sample that’s been sitting around in a plastic baggie… not exactly the best for a flavoured tea. It’s more seaweedy than the Murchie’s variety, and tastes a little toasty in comparison. There isn’t nearly as much dust in my cup, but the leaves aren’t as tightly curled either. Hmm… gunpowder genmaicha. That sounds like something I’d be interested in! This tea looks like it’d take a resteep. Not sure I will, but it’s a good thing to know.

Anyways, I’m reading this:

and drinking this tea.

Yep, this is a good combination.

I love the notes on the provenance of the tea. ;-)

I was so pleased when I opened the bag for this—it’s like POW lemon right in your face. Nothing subtle about the flavoring here! I like my lemon blends strong, so right off the bat this tea was off to a good start.

The lemon is really strong when brewed—bright and citrusy, I feel like this would be a great tea for those early mornings when you have to drag yourself out of bed. But the base is actually stronger, surprisingly! This tea starts lemony and finishes lemony, but in the middle it’s a delicious, grassy, ever-so-slightly smokey gunpowder. I am definitely going to try this iced with sugar, it’s already so refreshing hot and I’m sure those qualities would be even better cold. Urgh, I’m already regretting only getting two ounces of this! Good thing H&S is only a subway ride away~

I loved this one too… it makes a nice cold brewed tea.

Barb

OK, so this morning I wanted lemon badly and reached for my Stash Lemon Ginger. I used only 1 bag and got mostly ginger instead of lemon. Am adding this H&S to my shopping list.

I added this sample to my order on a whim, I certainly did not have any crazy expectations about it. I must say, however, that I absolutely love it and I will be definitely getting a tin of it at some point.

I don’t know where green tea is in the first infusion, it is certainly hiding somewhere under the greatest, juiciest, most delicious lemon flavor. It is so yummy and good, I just can’t get enough of it.

Some nice astringency is revealed in the second steep, on which I am right now, but the lemon flavor is still there, and still strong. Wow. Normally I would be a little upset about flavoring completely killing base tea but here it just works too damn well! And since I’m not an expert (yet!) on green teas, I don’t know, perhaps the taste of gunpowder merges exceptionally well with lemon flavor so that you can hardly tell them apart?

Oh well, it doesn’t matter, onto “My fav” list with it!

Yum. I will have to see if there are sample sizes of this to add to the Harney order I will place if I ever get out of lockdown. ;-)

I got a good 4 steeps out of this today! The lemon is most prominent in the first two steeps and then fades away leaving behind a very pleasant green tea taste.

This does an excellent job at smacking you in the face with the lemon in it. I don’t mind, I love the lemon. The gunpowder is subtle in comparison to the lemon but definitely there. Not grassy, a little smoky, just how I like my green teas. All the flavors here are right on the surface and you don’t have to sit there taking little sips to figure out what’s happening with the notes. Definitely going to be keeping a tin of this on hand from here on out!

Seriously, this is the last of the lemony gunpowder sample ALREADY? Welp, I guess I know what’s going to be in my next H&S order.
