Have you had the plant long enough to decide if it’s finicky or easy to grow?
Let me know how the tulsi growing goes, I’ve been thinking about trying that. I’ve already got some peppermint and catnip going strong with other plans on the way for a full herbal tea garden. :)
It seems to be doing fine in our flower bed. I have already pinched several flowers off to dry. One place I read said to pinch the flowers off so the plant will get fuller. Another said the flowers make the best cup. I haven’t steeped it yet but it sure is aromatic. I also have chocolate mint, bergamot (orange) mint, and lemon myrtle growing. I wanted to Verbena but I thought it was to fussy for our area – then I saw it growing in the herb garden at our local state park (doh!) Considered lemon grass but it was an odd plant to look at and I wasn’t sure what to do with it. I’ll figure out a way to post the results when I steep it soon.
My peppermint is doing OK, but it just isn’t as strong as commercially-prepped dried peppermint. I don’t know if it’s just a varietal thing or if I’m doing something wrong. (Notorious plant-killer here.)
We pretty much planted ours and walked away. They do better if we stay away. Indoor plants are not safe around our house :)

My first tulsi, and definitely a good note to start on! I wanna say that the tea tastes like basil (being as its known as Holy Basil, I guess this makes sense), which sounds like it would taste weird but when blended came out delicious.
I was a little bit worried that the tropical fruit flavour was going to be IN YOUR FACE tropical, but that wasn’t the case at all. Instead it was a delightful and subtle fruity blend. As someone who has never actually tried a papaya, I can’t really say that it had a papaya taste, but it was definitely sweet and smooth and fruity. I was heartbroken when I reached the end of my cup, and was delighted when it stood up to a second steep well.
I feel like I’ve given a terrible description, but this tea can really be summed up in one word- YUUMMMMM!

I think I’ve reached the conclusion that any tea is better than soda. Had a Pepsi not long ago with a fast food meal (don’t think I’ve touched pop in a year) and remembered why.
Me too – I finally kicked the soda habit a while ago!
