From Eco-Cha Artisan Teas

We are very excited about our newly discovered source of Alishan High Mountain Tea. It is a residential farm, run by a husband and wife team, with an onsite factory, and surrounded by pine and bamboo forest. It embodies pretty much everything we aspire to support in the local industry, and represent to tea lovers around the world. This homestead farm is among the highest elevation farms in the valley, with only small neighboring plots of tea, but no residential development above it. We have a great feeling about the people and the environment that sustainably produce this quality High Mountain Tea from the Alishan region.

I’m just back from a two week vacation in Europe and man, did I miss tea! First new tea I’ve tried on my return and the third from Eco-cha. This one is objectively great, but quite floral for my tastes. Much cleaner, crisper, and more complex than the Alishan I tried from TeaVivre.

Mouthfeel is full and creamy. Longevity is 8-10 infusions. No bitterness or sweetness. Would probably be hard to overbrew this. Drop brewed and the parameters were fine.

Harvest: Winter 2022? Can’t remember.
Location: Ruili Village, Meishan Township, Chiayi County (1200 m elevation).

Dry Leaf: Floral, vegetal.
Wet leaf: Same.
Flavors: Floral, butter, cream.

This was an excellent quality AliShan. I find most AliShans kind of boring compared to their high mountain counterparts but this was exceptionally good.

Very flowery with heady notes of daffodils, orchid, and lily of the valley. Starts off medium bodied gaining fullness and a coating mouthfeel as the steeps progress. Flavor drops off after the 4th infusion while still retaining a nice sweetness and smoothness. When all of the infusions are combined, a korean melon like fruitiness emerges.

This tea works best gongfu steeped. Tried grandpa style and cold brewing but they simply didn’t work as well.
