MarufujiFirst thing about this tea is it is a Hojicha. If you have never drank one they are different. It is roasted but not in the manner of a Wuyi oolong. The roast profile on this one is fairly nice. There is something of a sweet flavor behind the roast, somewhat hard to find but there. The dry leaves appear to be a mixture of leaf and stem. Some hojichas are made with stems so this is not surprising to me. This was a moderately expensive tea. I think I paid around $25 for 150g of tea. The shipping on this tea was amazing. I paid for EMS shipping and it arrived in about two or three days.
I brewed this once in an 16oz Teavana Glass Perfect Tea Maker/Gravity Steeper with 4 tsp leaf and 175 degree water for 3 min. While I recommend this tea for people who like Hojicha. Be aware that if you haven’t tried Hojicha you may hate it. Took me a while to get used to them.

I don’t drink soymilk but I could try it with almond milk.
Does it get bitter when boiled?
I don’t think so, but I generally use only a little bit of tea. By boiling I can use less…
