Fireside S’mores

Okay, so I like the idea of this one. And I even like the flavor, to some extent.

But ugh, that murky chocolate sludge and layer of oil on top turns my stomach. It just really grosses me out, so I think this one will go into the swap pile.

Oh well! It does have a nice chocolate-y flavor to it, and the lapsang is just smoky enough.

2021 Sipdown 15/365!

I like this one a lot, especially how smoky-sweet it is, with some creaminess. It’s possibly the more accurate “Fireside S’mores” tea I’ve ever had. This is a sipdown, but there are 25 more grams in my most recent sub box + order.

had this a couple times so far. not sure how i fee about it. the first time was really “smokey” not really smorelike…the second time was more chocolatey but lacking the marshmallow aspect. Not a repeat buy i don’t think…with the inconsistency

I only tried this tea with milk. I will say that the ingredients list was very intriguing! It says Fireside S’mores; however, this does not contain any marshmallows. I know Deb makes organic, wholesome tea blends free from any artificial/natural flavourings. I appreciate this so much about her company! But I am sure it requires more creativity to mimic the flavours of well-known desserts.

I absolutely loved this tea. It smells very smokey, like the fire from a bbq. For preparation, I steeped this with boiling water, and then added milk. The chocolate melted and incorporated nicely into the drink.

As far as taste goes, it tastes like a smokey, chocolate, creamy drink! I really enjoyed this tea because I have never had Lapsang Souchong before, and I thought incorporating it into a s’mores inspired tea was super creative!

I would highly recommend this tea! I will repurchase it for sure.

My only constructive criticism for this is that I wish it had more Lapsang Souchong. But this might just be because my taste buds love stronger, bold flavours.

As a disclosure/forewarning/etc etc, I feel that it’s necessary to say that purchasing this tea was very out of character for me. For as long as I’ve been living, I’ve never enjoyed the taste of chocolate, and still don’t, but there is something about this tea that drew me to it. And I think that thing was the Lapsang Souchong.

After trying Fireside S’mores both as a latte and as a plain hot cuppa, I can now see why Deb insisted on only having this tea with milk. Milk really elevates the overall creaminess and helps support the lack of actual marshmallows. But I think that the combination of vanilla, toasted coconut, and the aforementioned Lapsang Souchong did a well enough job of mimicking a toasted marshmallow flavour. There is a nice amount of savoury smokiness without being overwhelming and outshining the components. Most surprising to me was the fact that the chocolate was palatable and not nearly as strong as I feared.

Overall, I really enjoyed this use of Lapsang Souchong tea. Even though I don’t think this tea necessarily screamed s’mores, it was still pretty good and I think that it’s worth trying at least once, if you’re able to get your hands on some.

WandaVision Binge Watch – Ep 2

It’s a bit harder to explain why I felt like this was a good choice for episode two, aside from the fact that we all know that over on Geek Steep we’re total sluts for a good Lapsang tea pairing. Aside from just being a really tasty tea, there’s a cozy and quaint quality about this blend that seemed to feel right to me for the 60s era “I Love Jeannie” inspiration of this episode. It made me think of this stereotypical Nuclear Familiy sitting down by the fireplace with a mug of hot cocoa and watching evening sitcoms together. Very wholesome and endearing…

And, for the most part, that ended up fitting quite nicely with the episode – minus the curveball at the end! This is also the point where I started reaaallllyyyy getting into things!

Latte Sipdown (gone before it was even added so no number change)

My new Dessert by Deb order arrived with all the tasty sounding fall teas. This is one of the ones I’m splitting with Sil and it smelled so good while I was dividing it that I decided to use my half to make a latte.

This was a little underleafed compared to usual and at first it came off a bit thin. However, the more I drink the better it gets. It’s good but I don’t know if it’s s’mores. I think this is more fireside coconut than anything. Smokey, creamy, coconut, and a touch of sweet maple/chocolate.

Since it’s not quite s’mores, I don’t think I need more. Based on the name and smell, I was actually worried I’d be immediately placing another order for copious amounts of this so I’m glad it didn’t completely deliver.
