From Den's Tea

The tencha for this Matcha is grown in a USDA certified tea garden and processed in a USDA certified facility. It is rare to find this combination in Japan. Best of all, the Organic Matcha has the same rich flavor as regular Matcha.

Origin: Nishio, Aichi
Harvest: First Flush 2009
Species: Saemidori

Tasting Profile:
It is rich in umami and thick creamy cup with a hint of a little eartly flavor as an organic.

Den’s Preferred Brewing:
Water: 3oz @ 180F
Matcha: 1 gram or 1 scoop of Chashaku or 1 1/2 rounded teaspoon

Whisk the Matcha well with Chasen (Bamboo whisk). See “Making Matcha”

I’m behind on my tea drinking! I woke up at 8:30, but ended up having a 2 1/2 hr convo w/ someone who may end up to be pretty special. After he had to go, I had this thick (1 scoop/3oz water). I hope the day continues to be as good as it started!=D

yay at special guys!

Cofftea

But what is it w/ me and LDRs? This’ll be 3 for 3.

Garrett

Nothing wrong with LDRs

Cofftea

Except they’re really hard (and expensive) and obviously they haven’t worked before.

Garrett

True, they can be hard and expensive at times, but if you can make it through one, you can make it through anything in your relationship with that person. Finding new things to do in an LDR definitely helps make them less hard and helps them work out. I’m currently in one, and we always find new ways to spend time with one another.

__Morgana__

I’m guessing “long distance relationships”. :-)

~lauren.

Good luck on the LDR! On a positive note, some of them do work out!

Cofftea

Garrett- “we always find new ways to spend time with one another.”… how do you do that long distance?

Garrett

Well, the time we spend “together” is online, mainly video chatting (both of us having macs makes things a lot easier). There is one function with our computers, we have a screen sharing feature, so a lot of times one of us will play a movie and share our screen with the other person, so we can watch movies together and talk to eachother (even though we can’t see eachother during the movie). We play video games online together (usually flash based video games or things like that). Plus it kinda helps that during winter and summer she has breaks from teaching, so we kinda get to see eachother at these times. We talk everyday even though there is a 16 hour time difference.

4 oz water at 175F, 2 spoons matcha, whisk.

I’ve gotten my mojo back for sure. I’m getting a nice froth even in a matcha bowl that I’d thought might have become jinxed.

This tastes a lot like what I think of when I think of matcha. It’s mostly seaweed, umami, not particularly sweet or vegetal, note even very grassy. The mouthfeel is full but not overly thick, and a little effervescent because of the froth.

I just really like Den’s matcha. I don’t know whether it is qualitatively better than others, in fact it’s possible it isn’t and it just appeals to me.

Also, I’m very excited to be drinking this before noon. I thought I would never get to sleep last night. I have a ton of shopping to do this afternoon, so I’m excited to have gotten my tea notes done (for the most part) early. One more new tea after this, and then a surprise!

BTW, the only other person to write a note about this was Cofftea. Anyone know how she is doing?
