Yum. Seriously. Yum. This is soooo dark, rich, and roasty. The malt aroma blasted my face as I added hot wot water to leaves and knew I was in for a treat. I added a splash of milk and no sweetener of any kind, but may another time. Holy chocolate tea. And not fake-y at all. The malt is a really authentic in flavor too. This is an all around winner and is going on the buy list.

Another one from TastyBrew! thanks so much! A convenient one teaspoon sample. I love trying teas! Can I try every tea that ever exists? I wanted a chocolate tea tonight, and I feel like I can drink the Della Terra black teas at night. After steeping, the color of this one sure looks light -a very light brown. The lightest colored black tea I’ve ever seen. Luckily Della Terra has lovely flavors and doesn’t need to rely on the base. I like this one! It does have quite a lot of chocolate flavor. I wouldn’t call it malt maybe because I didn’t see any malt candies in the blend. (I don’t love those Whoppers candies anyway, and believe me, there aren’t many candies I don’t like.) The flavor was more like a sweet creamy chocolate milk type of thing. Nothing malty, just chocolate. I’ve tasted this in many Della Terra flavors… I guess maybe they should try more flavors that don’t have chocolate or maybe I shouldn’t try every Della Terra tea! I like this one though… I knew it would exactly fit my craving. I did a second steep with only half a mug and I steeped it for a REALLY long time to try to get as much flavor out as possible – it seemed to work, since you can’t really mess up this black base.

Yum! I had some misgivings about ordering this tea after reading some of the reviews, and they only had 2oz bags in stock, but I’m happy I did it!

This is strong! My bf said that it made the room smell like cookies, but he wouldn’t try any, that silly butt. I love this malty taste, and the heady aroma. It’s not even bitter.

I’m hoping it’s just that my taste buds still don’t entirely work but this is entirely terrible. :( This is driving me crazy. It’s been almost a week since I could drink tea :(

It just tastes like burned malt. Wah I just want to be able to write tasting notes and taste things. Good news is I am on antibiotics now and know what has gone wrong (sinus + ear infection, argh) so hopefully soon I can taste again.

I think TastyBrew sent this one to me.. but if I’m wrong I apologize! It’s better than I expected :) nice, creamy chocolate flavor. There was even a hint of malt. A nice chocolate tea, I’ll admit. I enjoyed it! Thank you again!

I was hesitant to order this one way back in October but I did! And ya I know… I’m just getting around to opening it today. As it was steeping I was a little worried that I did it wrong. It was very light color for a black tea. But the taste was delicious. The aroma definitely made my kitchen smell like chocolate. My boyfriend even asked if I made some different type of hot chocolate ha ha. I told him it was tea. But tasted like Whoppers. Ha ha. I ate some of this with a candied almond cinnamon roll I picked up in pismo where I spent my day off:)

Overall this tea would make a delicious latte… Unfortunately I went to the fridge to find out I was all out of milk:( next time for sure though! It’s a very smooth and creamy, yet malty cup on its own.

Husband was feeling peckish post-dinner ‘cause I’ve been lightening meals up to account for our afternoon tea snacking and the fact he’s been lamenting his pants getting tighter (I don’t know why; I’m the same as always and we eat about the same except he eats breakfast cereal, and it’s always been like this). He was standing in front of the fridge like “I shouldn’t eat anything but (grump)” so I offered him some tea, maybe it’d help curb his craving. Today was a weird day anyway—he got a letter from the IRS disputing our tax return from 2 years ago (!) and so that hasn’t been fun quickly trying to figure out what went wrong if anything (he called them and it sounds like there’s a chance the school he was taking classes from at the time made an error and didn’t send the IRS a form even though we have ours from them). If it is a true mistake we owe a bunch of taxes plus interest, which is maddening given nobody notified us and it’s been years. We’ll see I guess. We’re lucky—we can afford them, it’s definitely a stretch but it’s doable—but obviously this afternoon could’ve gone better.

Dry this smelled like straight up milk chocolate, that divisive Della Terra chocolate smell, but steeped the malted milk ball thing comes out a little more. Not bad but not a knock-my-socks-off treat either…I think it just takes a ridiculous level to impress me anymore flavored black tea-wise. I can never get over how rarely the taste lives up to the food aromas. Been drinking a lot more flavored greens and oolongs lately because they don’t disappoint me in that regard.

I might have brewed this too long, as it was stronger than I would have liked. The flavour is kinda creamy chocolate. It really does taste a bit like malted milk balls. (Wonder how it is with the chocolate strawberry).

Decided to try this little gem this morning. New tea #4 from my sample packs.

This was the one I was looking forward to the most!
I understeeped this because I was in a major rush this morning. (took too long making myself cute for a client that is coming in ahaha…. I am LAME!)
So it lacked a bit in flavour. It is malty & chocolatey (but not as malty as Chocolate Chili Truffle- I’m sure that’s the under steeping.).
Definetly have to give this another go with a proper steep time, because I am sure it will be scrumptious.

I love Whoppers (the chocolate) & haven’t had any in a really long time so this was why I wanted this tea.

This tea is sitting on the lower shelf on the desk at work, I keep sniffing around because I smell chocolate cake, can’t figure out from where. I tell my co-worker I smell chocolate cake, DUH! clued in & smelt my tea…. yup pure freshly baking chocolate cake. And this tea isn’t even hot anymore.

in retrospect i think my standard practice of oversteeping may have bitten me a bit because this tea is everything it declares itself to be (ie: i have heartburn and it’s my own fault! lol)

this is a difficult tea to describe: heavy, a thick taste without being viscous or sticking to the tongue, the malt is very detectable as is the chocolate. there are also notes of molasses and is very reminiscent of chocolate stout.

no floral notes, but as i previously mentioned, i did steep for 6 minutes (or so) so it might be that i overpowered them, lol. surprisingly smooth, though at this length of steep a wee bit astringent (again reminiscent of stout!).

if you like artisan ales and are up for a creatively contributed tea, then i’m sure you’ll be satisfied with this one! i especially enjoyed playing up the sweetness with a bit of sugar and adding a drop of cream.
