We love to sip it first thing in the morning – especially after a wild night of overindulging.

TTB tea! This tastes pretty cleaner-like. I don’t taste any cayenne. DavidsTea usually does an okay lemon flavor, but I had to pour this one out. It looks like some of the reviews mention the same thing, but others don’t, so it may depend on the batch.

Advent Calendar from Kaylee: Day 15

I always expect to dislike blends with cayenne/chili and then end up enjoying them! This one was quite flavorful, between the zing of lemon and the kick of cayenne. A nice little kick in the pants!

L is for… Lemon Cayenne Cleanse!

Ehh, this is a very lemony-flavoured tea, a little bit on the bitter side, and not too much else. I didn’t taste any cayenne and am ok with that. I’m not too interested in “cleanse” type teas anyhow, so would prefer a different type of lemon tea, ideally with creaminess.

To me, this one always tastes like cleaner. Something like lemony Vim.

I’m awake and perusing the Vendor Floor of the International Virtual Tea Festival this morning, while the friend I am virtually “attending” with is still sleeping over in PST. As I am down with some terrible congestion (and I am hoping that is all it is!), I’ve been depleting all my ginger-bomb teas at a rapid rate. This came as a free sample in my latest DAVIDsTEA order — I was honestly surprised to even get a sampler, since my last few orders didn’t have any. (Honestly, for how much I have to spend in a single order just to hit free shipping because their shipping rates in the US are absolutely outrageous — the cost of a 2 oz. package of tea on its own! — a few freebie teabags is the least they could do.)

I usually balk at anything with the word “cayenne” or “chili pepper” on it as I’m a huge spice wuss that orders her Thai food with negative stars. If I’d ever drink something like this, while I’m all stuffed up is the time. But I’m surprised that my mouth actually isn’t on fire. It’s very lemony, a little citrus tangy but not sour or puckering, and there is a soft heat at the end of the sip, but it isn’t coating my tongue or lingering in my mouth. I do feel it a bit on the back of my throat, but it’s a pleasant feeling given the congestion, so this was probably the right choice. There is a peppery taste, but certainly not the daunting experience I was expecting when I saw “cayenne” in the title.

Since I actually really like tart/tangy, I think I prefer my lemon a little more punchy than this, though I imagine this is a good choice for those that don’t. I also think just because I’m a ginger fan I’d probably reach for a lemon ginger blend before something like this, but this certainly isn’t bad and I’m glad I got to try it. Definitely isn’t something I would ever think to try on my own, given my biases towards hot/spicy things.

Tiffany :)

Was the sample loose leaf or tea bag?

Mastress Alita

It was a single teabag. The bag was a sort of cloth/mesh woven sachet style.

I’m a DT fanatic (started my tea journey with DT spring 2016) so I’m familiar with their teabags, but have not had a sample from them in a long time. :) — I love this tea but it’s been awhile since I’ve had it.

If you love lemon, this is the tea for you! Unlike the name suggests, however, there really isn’t much spice to this tea (at least not in my opinion). The lemon is very strong but I only get a slight hint of spice on the back end. I have had this tea hot and cold; it is tasty either way.

I was feeling a little hungover this morning so this was a wonderful tea to wake up to and guzzle down. It really did help to clear my system.

Excellent tea! I’ve been a tried and true black tea drinker, Early Grey and English or Scottish Breakfast my daily diet. I was introduced to this recently at a Wellness Fair event . Brewed hot it is pleasant to the palate, lemon tart but with a subtle touch of heat. I have made it as a cool drink/iced tea, as well, and it has effectively replaced water and other beverages. It’s refreshing, not at all bland. If you enjoy a more robust flavour, a burst of lemon/tartness then you will like this tea. And bonus that it is detoxifying.

At first taste, it is very lemony, so much that it comes across as perhaps a bit too overpowering. The after kick of the chili peppers is, though, very subtle so there’s an element of heat (other than the hot water, obviously) that I don’t find all that bad.

I’m actually on the fence about this one. It might be a case of it being better as a cold tea (which I don’t drink). It’s not super bad but, at the same time, it’s not one I would rush to make a second cup in the same day, or same week to be honest.

It might be good when one has a cold as a sort of non-medicated alternative? Perhaps as a tea to drink after a night of heavy drinking to, you know, make one feel even worst and promote sobriety?

All kidding aside, it’s, at least so far, a so-so tea. I woudn’t recommend it simply because it is truly not for everyone’s taste. Also, I sort of want to keep the few friends I have.

Wow, this is very lemony! I used one of my free teas on a cup of this iced today with some agave. It’s pretty good. As it is really lemon flavoured and could be a great lemonade (if it was made sweeter) It also had a little bit of a kick to it towards the end of my cup, from the chili peppers in the blend. Not too much though, which is good for me since I don’t really like spicy things at all. I really like this tea iced, though, I’ll have to try it hot next.
