Isn’t spring when most people fall in love? So don’t be surprised when you fall for this blend of sencha, cornflowers and barberries (barberries? what’s a barberry? where has it been all my life?!). This time, however, it’s a healthy relationship. Sencha is full of antioxidants, and barberries are said to boost your immune system, give you energy and just plain make you happy. Just like love.

I got this as a free sample in my last order from David’s Tea. The Barberry, by the way, resembles small cranberries, but the taste it not as strong.
This sencha is perfectly pleasant and a good choice for a basic fruity green tea with few, if any, vegetal overtones. I also think this would make a delicious iced tea.
I’m not in love with it, but when I survey my iced tea options as the weather gets muggier, I might order a large size of Barberry Fling.

Got this in a tea trade recently. I find the dry leaf smells like Organic Green Seduction. As does the liquor. And the flavour, well, reminds me of the same. But weaker. So, it’s good, but it’s basically like they took OGS, rehashed it and sold it under a different name, with the main selling point the magical life changing properties of barberries. Meh. Glad I got it free in a trade. Maybe I’ll just add it to my tin of OGS and call it a day…
Ohh if you wish to make it travel further, I’d really love to try it out! I’d gladly send you pretty much anything I have in my cupboard!

Flavor: Tastes like a picturesque spring morning. I don’t really associate flavors with seasons, but the sencha and barberry evoke memories of it. It just tastes really “fresh”.
Reminds me of: Spring, and every time I’ve been sick and have drank NeoCitran. ;)
Aftertaste: There is a hint of sencha, but its not a strong aftertaste.
Memorability: Its memorable, but it reminds me of a cold medicine so that isn’t great.

Would I buy this again?: No, not unless my husband wants more. He seems to enjoy this much more than I do. Its not awful, I just don’t care for it.
Cool, I’ve planted barberry shrubs before but I always thought they were purely decorative (and evil – they have wickedly sharp thorns).
