Oh… Oh!

This steeped up brilliantly tonight! Very decadent with sweet apple notes, buttery, glazed pastry notes, and soft notes of pistachio. I bet some milk would have enhanced the creaminess, but this was also perfectly fine without.

I shall follow your steeping parameters and hopefully I will be as pleased as you are :)

Sad, sad sipdown!! (205)

Thank you Roswell Strange for this one. It is a rare rooibos that doesn’t rooibosy. It beautifully captures the flavor of a homemade apple strudel. I am sad to see it go.

I need this tea in my life…shopping list.

Courtney 11 years ago

Those are the best rooibos teas – the ones that don’t taste like rooibos. :P

Roswell Strange 11 years ago

Heh, unless you’ve received more tea in the last 24(ish) hours you now have less tea than I do :P But I’ll remember you like this one (I hoped you would because of the pistachio).

VariaTEA 11 years ago

I just bought 15 new teas!!

Roswell Strange 11 years ago

With your 52Teas order? They don’t count yet – not in your cupboard atm ;)

VariaTEA 11 years ago

No. I was not including that. I went to DAVIDs and CaesarsTea today and bought 15 teas in person. I have a problem.

VariaTEA 11 years ago

If I include the 52 teas than you need to add an additional 19 on top of that.

Roswell Strange 11 years ago

My hiatus has been going pretty well, I must say :) Though, there may be 19 in total on the way to me, heh… RiverTea + Keychange + Cavo + Moraiwe + “Take It Away” thread.

VariaTEA 11 years ago

I grabbed 10 g so I will cold brew that and see if I am left with anything to try it hot. I also grabbed Guava Cadabra and intend to cold brew it.

Roswell Strange 11 years ago

I like Guava Cadabra too, though I’m surprised you got it because of the hibiscus.

VariaTEA 11 years ago

I tried Strawberry Rhubarb Parfait as a cold brew and enjoyed it so I decided to give Guava Cadabra a try that way just to see what happens. I figured if I grabbed 10 g that wsas probably just enough for one bottle cold brewed and so its nbd if I am not a fan.

So I just realized I commented here the response I meant to put on my Countess of Seville post. I was wondering where that went. Haha.

Roswell Strange 11 years ago

I didn’t even notice it was on the wrong tasting note! :C

This is another tea I took from the GCTTB.
I’m having a good time with this one tonight. I’m getting apple, I’m getting strudel (?) or sweet pastry something. I didn’t taste any pistachio, that’s disappoints me. I LOVE pistachio.
Steeped this using the MissB trick – I love how that works out.
All in all I liked this one. Nice to have an apple tea that isn’t ooooozing cinnamon.

Roswell Strange 11 years ago

Mmm, I love this one! It’s buried in my closet, but now I want to go find it…

Thank you Lala for this sample.

This tea has an interesting smell, sweet and fruity but also nutty..like almond. Much nicer than your average Rooibos. Personally I’m not a fan of pistachio but my husband is so it will be interesting to see if we both like it.

Once steeped this tea is red/brown in colour and has a sweet almond and gentle apple scent.

Flavour is very sweet and appley with a sweet but dry nut finish. It’s not overly sweet but on the brink of being so (for me at least). It’s more almond than pistachio which works in my favour so the taste is quite pleasant. Very creamy and delicious.

Two cups in and I still cannot taste much Rooibos at all which is a very nice surprise. Remains refreshing and light but with a large apple and nut explosion that can be enjoyed in the after taste.

My husband loves apple tea and this is one that he gulped down with delight…well, as much delight as he can muster. He is never enthusiastic about anything, he says ‘yeah it’s alright’ about every tea.

So happy you and your hubby liked it! This is one of the few rooibos blends I really like.

Shut up, the smell of this is insane. It’s like the freshest most fabulous apple pie ever in a mug on my desk right now. Ya know what it really reminds me of? A baked apple fresh out of the oven with cinnamon and some nuts mixed in, it definitely has that nutty warm scent. Maybe it’s cinnamon sugared nuts mixed into a baked apple. I haven’t even sipped it yet, I’m just dying over how fabulous it smells. I’m really nervous I’m going to love this because I don’t live in SK…I live in the US.

Anyway, got this in a SURPRISE swap from Lala and am just getting around to it now because I need something easy on my stomach (I’m a notorious black tea addict) and this rooibos sounded heavenly. Yes this is a problem. I love this tea. I get a bit of the rooibos taste, but the first layer of the sip is more like apple cider. Stop it. This is so good. This is the most spot on apple pie type tea I’ve tried. I generally hoard apple teas because I LOVE apple, but then I remember I don’t usually like apple tea, and then I have a bunch of apple tea that I’ll never drink. But this one is different, it’s special! I love it!

oh my God, so delicious. try it. seriously just try it.

Sounds amazing! If only I liked rooibos. :/

Sil 12 years ago

ooh this sounds totally interesting

Lala 12 years ago

Happy you like it. If you ever want more, just let me know. I’m sure we could arrange a swap, some US goodies for some Canadian ones!

TastyBrew 12 years ago

Yeah, everything about this tea sounds amazing… Except the rooibos part. Hmmm.

Made the last of this one as a cold brew, brewed for 12 hours. I wanted to write here that it was delicious! but really it is just ok.

There is a metallic tang from the rooibos. You can taste the pistachio, and there is a blunted green apple taste. Not very sweet. I will need to add some sweetener to my cup to straighten out this apple taste. There is definitely a pastry type taste as a cold brew, like thick pie crust. It is also a bit creamy. The liquor is thick. There is a long, lingering rooibos aftertaste. The last time I had this hot was a long time ago, but cold it seems like the tastes are a bit more complex.

This is a good rooibos that doesn’t need sweetener or milk.
The taste is smooth, apple, kinda buttery, with a tad of nutty taste. Kind of strange but good.

Not wonderful, but a pleasant enough rooibos. None of the flavours particularly stand out in this blend and it is pretty unoffensive. I left one serving for the SSTTB.

This is actually a decent rooibos. The base doesn’t overtake the other ingredients completely, which is great. The apple is apparent, though I’m not so sure about the pistachio or strudel aspect. There is something dimming the apple a bit so those things are there, just not distinguishable to me. Overall, an enjoyable cup, especially for a rooibos.

Thanks Roswell Strange!

This is definitely a good rooibos.

Suziqzer 11 years ago

Sounds like a good one. I prefer when the rooibos isn’t an apparent flavor of the tea, but blends well with other flavors. L’Automne is great … I agree!

Roswell Strange 11 years ago

I actually just made a cup of this…
