Highly prized Taiwan oolong with a unique flavour profile of muscatel, honey and citrus. A satisfying oolong which has been oxidised longer giving it a sweeter delicacy similar to a darjeeling.

This tea is picked in summer only after tea is bitten by leafhoppers. You may see some small bite marks on the leaf. This causes the plant to release natural substances which give the tea its unique muscatel and citrus taste.
There are many tea vendors out there selling Eastern Beauty (aka Oriental Beauty, White Tip Oolong, Dongfang Meiren, Bai Hao Oolong). They all make the same claims about the leafhoppers and the intense muscatel aroma but the fact is that there are so many different grades ranging from the sublime to the awful.
In Taiwan this tea is at a premium and extremely expensive. True Eastern Beauty picked from Miao Li County should retail at upwards of £50 per 100g. Anything less and there is no way that it is true Eastern Beauty.
Really, the origin and the authenticity of the tea does not matter. What is important is that the tea is delicious with an intense honeyed fruit aroma that is unmistakeable. We are confident that after tasting our Eastern Beauty you will have a standard against which all other Eastern Beauty can be judged – it is perfection.

Was going to have a silver needle tea, but since I have just had a curry I thought a more robust tea would be better.
1st Steep
Light brown tea. Aroma is tannin, some spice and earth. Taste is earth, tannin, wet wood and some hints of honey.
2nd Steep
Less Earth in the aroma, more green leaf. Taste is a little more mellow, less tannin with some stronger sweet notes. More floral notes and in whole it’s a little more rounded. Refreshing.
3rd Steep
Morefloral notes in the aroma. Taste is more sweeter and improved in my opinion. More balanced and less tannic.
Overall good Tea that develops through the steepings.
