From Camellia Sinensis

This Shou Pu Er produced by the Haiwan factory, Yunnan, is composed of leaves of medium size compressed into a disc of 357 grams. Upon wetting, it exhales fragrances evoking toasted cereal and forest floor. The infusion reveals a dense, creamy liquid, almost black, and an especially comforting character. Its sweet taste is accompanied by aromas of malt, barley sugar and exotic woods to a soft and subtly fruity finish. Very generous re-infusions.

Gongfu Sipdown (1534)!

A session from this past weekend that I enjoyed over Zoom with my IG friends theoolongdrunk & teawithneldon!! This shou is so thick and oily with deep earthy notes that remind me of root vegetables and wet potting soil, mixed with an underlying dense sweetness that I think is best described as malty black sugar and buckwheat honey. Even from the first steep after the rinse, this shou is inky black and thick and it lasted for a multi hour conversation – just so rich and enjoyable. Thank you both for the impromptu session; I’ve been waiting for the right moment to finish off the last of this tea sample and over good conversation with two friends seemed like the perfect moment!

Smooth and slightly sweet. This is a very earthy cup, with a little toasty quality to it. It’s like drinking dirt-y honey nut Cheerios. I drank this down too quick to make any careful notes :P I really loved spending time with this one! I still have some steeps to go too.
