I actually really enjoy this tea and I’m pretty picky when it comes to “grocery store” brands. I was able to get this one in loose leaf at a local Middle Eastern market and at first, I was a bit scared because the smell was so strong I was afraid that it would be overwhelming. However, after steeping, the smell lessened and it was pleasant. I like my black teas with half and half so I added that and took a taste. I was pleasantly surprised! I love the smooth Ceylon base and a gentle touch of spice. It has quickly become a tea in my frequent rotation.

I’m kind of a cardamom freak. I’ve always wanted to try this tea so I ordered some from Amazon when I needed a few other things. This is by far the largest tin of tea I’ve ever had at 17.6 ounces! The tin is HUGE. I recall having an 8 oz. tin of Florence by Harney and Sons that seemed to last forever. I guess I’ll have this stuff for years. Let me know if anyone would like a sample ;)

Now on to the tea tasting notes. I steeped it this morning in my Adagio tea maker for 3 minutes. I didn’t see an cardamom pods or powder in here. I think this is cardamom flavored tea. I’m not sure if the flavoring comes from oil or what. Compared to the cardamom french toast I had from David’s Tea this is much milder. Less cardamom-y. Since I have so much of it I might throw in some cardamom pods or desiccated cardamom into the tin to bump up the flavor a bit.

As for the tea itself, it’s a dark, somewhat standard ceylon. I found it had quite a bit of heft compared to some other ceylons I’ve tried. It has that citrusy, sort of copper-y flavor that’s fairly unique to ceylons. I had a mug of this in the morning with soymilk added. I haven’t tried it with sugar yet, but I imagine that would be good with this particular flavor combo.

Overall I like this stuff but I wish I liked it a bit more, since I definitely have way too much of it. I guess it won’t go stale anytime soon, that’s the good thing about black tea.

As a true tea addict, I couldn’t resist buying this while browsing my local Middle Eastern market! As a huge fan of cardamom everything (green cardamom is incredible), I bought a 100 bag box before even trying it. It’s pretty straight-forward, a cardamom scented black ceylon tea in a bag- because it’s processed and fit into a bag, it has a super bold punchy flavor right away, and the cardamom is decent, it is wonderfully complementary- it does come through but not as strong as I’d like it to.

Cardamom almost has a “peppery” sharpness to it when it is a fresh pod, this bag is missing that freshness, but the overall cardamom-ness is present. This makes an excellent milk tea, but I often drink it straight.

Ooooh, wow! Yup, that’s cardamon! I love cardamon, but it pretty much takes over in this cup. I can’t taste the tea or anything else that might be around, just cardamon. It seems like a fairly even flavor with a tiny bite at the beginning of the sip, but there isn’t much going on. I’d love to see this paired with something else that can match the strength of the spice. Still, if you want to drink a cup of cardamon, this is your tea.

HHTTB #7/18

Nice Ceylon base with bit of spunk from the Cardamon. This is a nice afternoon cup. It makes me feel all fuzzy inside and think about fall days and campfires. A tad bit of honey might brighten this up a bit. This is an enjoyable cup. I don’t think I ever need to own this, a nice unexpected treat.

From the Here’s Hoping Traveling Tea Box #2

I feel like this tea has a lot of potential, but I didn’t manage to tap into it with my first cup. The Ceylon base is nice , smooth, and light. The Cardamon is sweet, but pretty weak. If I try this again I’ll add more leaf to my infuser. Drinking this tea made me want go to my favorite Indian restaurant and sample lots of different spicy food. If only they weren’t closed on Sunday….
