Figure i should keep drinking up these teas since i have a few ppl who will be getting little samples of these from me. I still find there’s too much blergamot in this one to really be a great tea, but the raspberry and vanilla flavoring do help to tone it down enough that i don’t want t outright dump the cup out (i’m looking at you river song..) This was ok in offsetting and creating a contrast for the puerh i’ve been drinking but i’m sure most of this tin will be off in swaps for others to enjoy more :)

It’s been a while since I had this. After having a pretty hectic couple of days, this is exactly what I needed.

Raspberry Earl Grey sounds pretty good to me, and yet I don’t think I’ve ever tried/come across one before. Not that I can remember, anyway. The dry leaf smells pretty good, in a sweet, candy-raspberry sort of way. I can see pieces of dried raspberry, cubes of dried apple, and a scattering of lavender, so it looks pretty good too. I used 1 tsp of leaf for my cup, and gave it 2.5 minutes in boiling water. The lavender is a lot more prominent in the scent once brewed.

To taste, raspberry is definitely the main flavour. This is a good thing, to my mind. It’s nicely done, with a pleasant sweet/tart balance, and it’s not too candy-like. It’s not exactly dead-on fresh raspberry, either, but it’s close. I’m also enjoying the earl grey aspect, with it’s mild notes of bitter orange, and lightly floral, lavender edge. Neither the bergamot nor the lavender have become overpowering, which is a relief. They’re not my favourite flavours, but I’ll concede that they work well here.

This one made for a pleasant mid-afternoon cup, and it’s made me wonder whether there are other red-fruit flavoured earl grey blends out there that I’ve not come across. This could be the start of a new obsession.

This one is actually enjoyable. It has a strong berry flavor with notes of tart hibiscus. There is a little bit of bergamot between berry flavors. I like this one but there isn’t anything special about it.

So I figured, what the heck, let’s try Rose’s tea. It was the second one I pulled out of the box….Well, technically Jack was the second one, but I’ve tried that one and didn’t like it at all (though I might retry the stuff in the tin since it doesn’t smell as strongly as the batch I got in a bag). So I skipped him and went to the next.
This one smelled pretty fruity dry, which was nice.
Brewed this still was fruity, but a tart/sour sort of fruity from the raspberries. Thankfully I don’t get any of the earl grey from this since bergamot is definitely not one of my favorite flavors. Or maybe it’s here, but its subtle (which I’m not used to with earl grey) so I can’t really pick it out. But honestly I don’t really think of this as much more than a raspberry tea to be honest. Everything else is just kinda overshadowed.
A bit of truvia tones the sour/tartness down, but not so much that I can tell anything else from the tea. Lol!

Good ol’ Rose. I do like her, you know. And this is nice and cozy. Light on the bergamot and lavender, and nicely raspberry. I like this raspberry in blends, it brings a sweet freshness you don’t get from a raspberry-flavoured black tea, that blends well with the subtle floral background notes here. I wish there was a little less of the ceylon texture in the background, but it’s a very comforting flavour.

It’s 9:30 and I’m my first sipdown for the day! I’m hoping to get a lot in since I’m in the shop by myself today and have easy access to the kettle. I actually moved out of my office and set my laptop up in the shop and just made myself at home. Who’s gonna stop me? NOT YOU.

I came into work today and my boss was still here – two nights in a row! So, since Wednesday I think he’s slept for maybe 3 hours. Yikes. The movie biz is only PARTIALLY for me, you guys. Assuming he can drive home safely, I think he’s going to sleep for 5 hours and then head out to set. And this is why I’m alone today – all the prosthetics are built and the only thing left is a giant mess which I will clean throughout the day between cups of tea.

And onto THIS tea: The lavender and the EG are fairly muted, leaving some apple raspberry notes on the surface. It comes across as simple and sweet, but there’s a little more to it than you might expect. I nearly dismissed it at first, but by the end of the cup I found I was enjoying it more!

MUCH LIKE ROSE! No, not really. I actually really loved Rose Tyler when I first met her, but then as I moved on from her to other companions I looked back at her and realized a few things: I don’t like how she treated Mickey. Dump him, or don’t dump him, but make up your mind. Also, do I really want to ship her and the Doctor? Yes they were adorable but… let’s creep it up a little. He’s 900 years old. She’s… 19? Oh well they’re in love and they didn’t actually do anything about it, but… no…. Just… no. I guess the human version of the Doctor going off with Rose is less creepy because he’s human, but…

Whatever. I’m thinking too much about this! Onto MOAR tea!
