Tea of the Week for June 3, 2019!

Earlier this month, my youngest daughter graduated from High School & she did so with highest honors! In case it’s not obvious, I’m very proud of her & all that she worked so hard to achieve. In honor of this auspicious occasion, I decided to create a tea inspired by her. Specifically, this tea. Orange Cream is one of her favorite flavors – or should I say, flavor combinations? – so I thought it would be lovely to start with some of our Organic Chinese Sencha which is naturally sweet & smooth – somewhat creamy even – to blend oranges, vanilla beans & just a light sprinkling of orange blossoms.

Wow – this is really delightful. Sweet & silky, with a nice, bright orange note and a creamy vanilla finish. The green tea is light and refreshing. This makes for a fantastic summer quencher – cold brew it for a sweet, refreshing chilled drink that will cool you off during the hot days to come.

I am so happy with how this one turned out. This is a MUST try!

ingredients: orange blossoms

O is for… Orange Cream!

I think I misstepped on the brewing with this one, as the base was somewhat bitter and not enjoyable, but I did enjoy the bright orange and cream flavouring!

The first and dominant flavor is definitely the green tea, which is too strong and obtrusive for me. After that has passed, I get a really lovely orange cream flavor. Super lovely. I’m not much of a green tea person, so I feel like that impacts my experience here a lot, but I would love to have that orange cream on a green rooibos base so I could really enjoy it. Once this cools all the way, the green tea flavor mellows out a lot, but the orange cream somehow isn’t as delicious anymore either. Still, I think cool is the way I enjoyed this the most since all the flavors combined into one cohesive drink rather than the separate elements that sort of clash for me.

52 Teas 12 Teas of Christmas – Day 2

This one smelled so awesome. Thankfully, it transfers to the taste as well. There is a whole lot of orange here and it trends to orange creamsicle. I enjoy it a lot and think it would be awesome cold brewed or iced as well.

I’m not sure what it’s like right now for the rest of y’all out in the world, but here in Montreal it is reallyyyyy starting to feel like Spring again. The snow has largely melted away and the sun no longer sets at bloody 2PM, and for the for most part it’s warm enough to walk outside with only a bunny hug…

As such, I can definitely feel the seasonal swing of craving new and different teas – I’ve been drinking way more fruity teas and florals and gravitating towards green and oolong teas more than I typically do. This just checks all the boxes and, while the “Creamsicle vibe” is maybe just a bit more of a summer profile, it’s just so fresh feeling with this magic harmony between cream and bright orange. A really good change of seasons kind of tea.

Okay, had to look up “bunny hug”. And then I saw it’s a Saskatchewan thing and I didn’t feel as bad, ha ha. Super cute term though!

Lol, I completely forgot that it’s prairie slang XD

I thought this tasted extremely familiar…turns out I had it in June. I still really enjoy it! Definitely tastes like a creamsicle.

This is the first tea of the week for June – which is on the website now (available in limited quantities at the moment, more will probably be added to the website later this week.) This tea is inspired by my youngest daughter Lilith who just graduated from High School (in the top 5% of her class, no less! I’m a very proud mama!) – her favorite flavor combination is orange and vanilla.

I cold-brewed this overnight last night in a big mason jar – and she and I both love this tea! It’s a good balance of orange and vanilla. It smells amazing too.

The sencha is a good base because it has a natural ‘creaminess’ to it that works well with the vanilla. It’s not to acidic from the orange, it’s not too sweet from the vanilla. It’s light, refreshing and definitely one I’ll want to keep around for the summertime!

Congrats! And a tasty-sounding flavor combination. Can’t wait to check it out.
