I was inspired to craft this tea because our favorite produce market offers hot mulled apple cider to its guests this time of year. I decided to create my own tea version of the drink. The spices here are a bit softer than in the mulled apple cider from the store, mostly because I still wanted this to be tea.

My drinking pattern the past few days has been to start the day with a smoky or chai-like kapow black tea which is then followed up with milder flavoured something, white or green, in the afternoon.
This was today’s afternoon choice because I need to make my way through this tea. Drinkable, but I am not a fan really. The balance of flavours is good, but the spiced citrus paired with green tea doesn’t work for me. This, of course, could just be my particular bias and not the tea’s fault at all.Flavors: Citrus, Spices
This came in the Holidays TTB that showed up last night. I picked it out because a) I really like cider teas and b) I’ve been waiting to try something from 52 teas for ages.
This totally fit the bill, for me the green tea was definitely not a strong flavor but the spices and the apple really pulled through. I’d probably put this on par with Celestial’s Caramel Apple Dream (in my mind at least.) The orange was not so present, but I’m okay with that. Overall, a fabulous start to this TTB for me :)

I definitely get the spices, and although I could SEE the orange, the scent/flavor didn’t translate for me, unfortunately, and that could have made it REALLY like cider. I associate cider with warm spicy sweet tartness, and while this tea delivered on the spice (although not overwhelmingly, thankfully), it didn’t quite hit those other two notes for me. That’s not to say that this isn’t a lovely tea on it’s own! The green tea is buttery and green and I think was a nice choice as a black tea would have been a bit too heavy. Maybe the cup I had just wasn’t well balanced. It’s not very spicy like a chai, but it is still a nice spiced green tea.
I’m pretty surprised this tea didn’t have an entry yet, unless I completely missed that?
I haven’t ever had mulled anything as far as I know, so I can’t speak for how it compares to the original, but this is definitely an interesting tea! As soon as I opened this bag, I got all kinds of sweet, fruity scents. Steeped up, this kinda smells like bubblegum honestly. I’m mostly getting an orange flavor, with a bubblegum aftertaste. What is it that’s causing that bubblegum flavor? Is it the mulled spices maybe?
I’m pretty sure I’ve had at least one other tea that tasted unintentionally bubblegum to me, now I’m going to have to go see what was in that one and compare
I hope you’ll be able to figure it out, as I’m very curious. :)
