5 Tasting Notes

This is a great comfort tea! Reminded me of a mild/light minty hot chocolate, perfect for the cooler weather that’s coming in with the beginning of autumn. I take it with milk and a tiny bit of cane sugar (but it’s great without either, too). I plan to experiment in baking with this, I think it would be nice in cookies.

Too strong my tastes to drink as a cup. “Smokey punch to the throat” as another reviewer described about sums it up for me. Smells like a campfire – which is nice, but not to drink. However, I do use it in cooking, so it gains some points for that. Makes a nice marinade for salmon.

Probably my favourite Earl Grey I’ve ever had. The extra bergamot flavour is strong without being overpowering, and the aroma of a brewed cup is lovely. I usually drink it with milk and a little cane sugar – great anytime tea.

I bought this one because it smelled very nice, and was recommended by a friend. I was disappointed when I tried a cup. Doesn’t taste nearly as good as it smells, the flavours described don’t come through. Really just blah.

The tea that turned me on to green tea! I’d smelled it many times while I worked at Teaopia, and it smelled so lovely that I decided to give it a try. Great when I feel like something less strong than all the black tea I drink. The flavouring is subtle, but not weak. A nice calming tea. I’ve also brewed some up and then used it instead of water to cook rice when I’ve made Asian-style meals and again it’s subtle but gives a little extra something.
