I couldn’t resist this one.. it sounded like my kind of blend. The description says “scented with honey-preserved fruits” which sounds delicious in theory. Lupicia’s fruit flavors are usually perfect. But on tasting the tea, the description might be a little vague for a reason. I’m definitely not tasting honey and I have no idea what types of fruits, other than a plasticy flavor that at most could be lychee. Lychee tastes plasticy to me. There is also a drying quality. The black tea is probably something like Ceylon or another tea I’m not a fan of. The description doesn’t say much about the base tea either. The second steep doesn’t add much to the flavor. Not a fan of this one.
Steep #1 // 1heaping teaspoon for a full mug// 12 minutes after boiling // 2 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled // 4 minute steep

I’m glad I didn’t order this one. I was on the fence about it but I already have $150 worth of tea in my cart and really had to limit my purchases.

I agree lychee is plastic-y. I do love them, but they also make my mouth go numb so I always attributed the plasticy flavour to my tastebuds being thrown off.

Yeah, I WISH I didn’t order this one. :/ Glad you didn’t!

Hopefully I’ll have better luck with this one! I’m sorry that you ended up ordering one that you didn’t like. My tea was supposed to come today and it say’s they tried to deliver it…. but the postman never came to the door. So I’m hoping I’ll get it tomorrow. I’m excited to try them.

tea-sipper

Yeah, I feel bad that you split a package of this with me. I really hope you like it a lot more than I do! Maybe it’s just my tastebuds.

Rosehips

I had the same experience with this one! It sounded so good, but turned out so blah!

I decided to try this one first so I would set myself up with the best chance to appreciate it. I think I like it better than you do. It was a bit heavy and perfumey for me though and I can see the plastic comparison as well a bit. It’s definitely unique! I have a feeling the others are going to be amazing. Why didn’t I try Lupicia sooner? Haha

tea-sipper

Lexie Aleah – I’m VERY glad you like it more than I do. I was feeling guilty you had to split it from the group order. If you like that one, I bet you’ll LOVE the other blends. I sure do. :D

Most of the teas listed in my cupboard are actually sample sizes. I don’t really have 2,000 ounces of tea around here! Many of my teas have only one teaspoon left… maybe two. But I like keeping them in my cupboard list for reference to what I could be sipping. Usually, I write tasting notes once for each tea. I’m still drinking them, just not writing tasting notes each time!

I’m always in search of: Hattialli, Qu Hao black, Jin Jun Mei, teas using marshmallow root.

My dislikes: hibiscus, ginger (unless in chai), turmeric, bee pollen, charcoal type flavors

My ratings:
95-100 – Super awesome deliciousness favorites – cupboard essential
80-95 – Also pretty delicious
65-80 – Pretty good
50-65 – Okay
1-50 – Probably won’t want to sip it again

I’m planning on being a Steepsterer as long as there IS a Steepster, so if you’re not hearing from me, that means something happened to my health… if you know what I mean. (Or as evidenced by the great computer hiatus of 2019, something happened to my computer… I have a dumb phone so can’t access internet on that. As of 12/20/21 my wifi might start getting unreliable.)

Happy sipping!
