61 Tasting Notes
Instructions were a little vague on the side of the canister; the other blooms I’ve had instructed the explicit use of boiling water to make the tea, but this particular bloom was a white tea. So to be safe, I used sub-boiling water and steep for about 3 minutes. As I hoped, the blossom fanned out with time, but unfortunately, the flower within appeared withered and damaged, and didn’t spread out as nicely as I hoped. The tea itself was lighter than most of the non-black teas I’ve consumed lately, and had a slightly vegetative taste to it, almost like a green tea. Peach flavoring tasted a bit artificial though. 3/5
I actually drank 2 14oz. mugga this yesterday. I was skeptical when I bought this, as it said “full leaf” on the package. When I opened the package and saw the mesh bags, I was relieved to see that to an extent, this was true. Most of the leaves within were broken, but not terribly shredded. The tea was dark than I expected, but tastes refreshingly light as a white tea should. I didn’t try for a resteep, but based on the size of the leaves, I think it’s reasonable to wager that these bags could handle at lease one. 4/5
Definitely top 3 favorite beverages. I dunno if it’s a natural trait of rooibos, but it has a naturally sweet quality to it while I drink it. I had a similar observation drinking some rooibos from Starbucks, so I’m wondering what makes it have such a sweet quality to it. In the past I’ve thrown in Splenda and some milk into this stuff, which makes it taste even better, but I really enjoy it plain too. On a scale of 1 to 10, this stuff gets a 26. It would’ve gotten 27, but it loses a point for tasting a bit weak on a 5 minute steep. I shouldn’t have to wait 6-7 minutes for such splendor! 5/5
This was served to me with a rather large teabag, one of those mesh numbers that have a lot of room to allow proper infusing. I wasn’t expecting this to taste as it did, with a solid vanilla flavor along with some notes of cinnamon and I think I even got some apple in there. Or maybe I was just looking for the apple flavor when I got the cinnamon. Hard to say… Nevertheless, I found that it had a kind of sweetened taste to it despite having nothing added in. Anyone who sees this on the menu at their local Starbucks would be doing themselves a favor to try this out when they got the time.
