338 Tasting Notes
Day #17 of tea!
How have I never completed a tasting note for this one before now? Oh well, it’s getting done now, haha. This was an excellent treat this afternoon, after I got in from a walk (brrr, it was cold). There are other rooibos teas I like better than this one (cinnamon chai being the main example), as I’m not as crazy about caramel/toffee teas as some others tend to be. But I liked this, with the usual addition of milk, and I’ve got enough of the sample left for another couple of cups, so that’s good.
Day #16 of tea!
This one is probably my favourite from the winter collection. Not changing my rating from before, but I’m just adding that this is a delight to have while looking out the window and seeing the effects of freezing rain and realising you don’t have anywhere to be this afternoon. :)
This was my date to the movies this afternoon, LOL
I’m so happy there is another straight black in the collection! While I was doubtful it would come close to my beloved darjeelings (and it did not), I did really enjoy this. The honey taste is subtle, but there, and hey, it’s nice to see a tea of the month that’s not loaded down with flavours, as awesome as some of those are.
Because I am braver at trying coffee-flavoured teas, now, LOL.
I like Espresso Yourself better than this one, though I suspect that may have to do with the fact that I had more of a flavour to that one than I had here (less leaves, not steeped as long as it could have been). Also, that ones seems to be a lot less simpler in composition, so there might have been too many flavour profiles wrestling to de domiannt in this. Overall, not terrible, and okay in a pinch.
Day #15 of tea!
Again, I’m keeping my original rating on this one, which, for me, for a plain green is high. I normally like my greens with some flavour to them, but again, I appreciate the taste on this one because it’s slightly different than a regular Japanese green.
Day #14 of tea!
Keeping my rating on this one, I think! I had my sample steep for longer this time, which was nice, but I definitely got more of a licorice root taste, which was not so nice, LOL. I had to use a bit more milk to mellow that out. Still a yummy chai, and I might try it as a latte.
Day #13 of tea!
Another oldie, but goodie! Keeping my rating for this one the same as before… The taste is exactly as I remember it, and that’s nice to experience on a lazy Sunday. :)
Day #12 of tea!
One of the first teas I ever had from DT, hence the inclusion in the advent. Nostalgia purposes, for sure! I’m lowering my rating slightly on this one, as I don’t think I liked it as much this go around as I did before, haha. Black teas are still my favourite, but I think I made this too sweet and/or there was too much toffee flavour in my cup.
Day #11 of tea!
Another new one for me! The smell on this one was amazing – I do love a good banana nut bread (though preferably also with chocolate, lol).
My biggest beef with this, unfortunately, is that it is very, very heavy – and there wasn’t enough leaf in my 10g sample for two solid cups (vital, since I share the tea of the days with my mother, and she got to this one first). As a result, my cup was a lot weaker than I had hoped for, and I steeped this for a loooooong time. The flavour was good, but weak.
If I were to get this one again, I’d obviously have to buy more to get it to the strength I want, but I don’t know if it would be worth it for the amount of tea I would get. Pity.
