Thanks again Max for the generous samples of this unique product!

I also used my brew basket like SoggyEnderman, and actually still avoided bits in my cup mostly! The brew smells very much like black tea actually, perhaps with a more vegetal quality that black tea usually does not possess. It has the malty scent of a hearty assam but mixed with the earthy scent of sheng puer. I’m excited to taste!

Okay, so sipping now. The leafy taste of it being an herbal is immediately present, but there are interesting similarities in its flavor with black tea. There is a definite note of licorice. No bitterness or astringency on my end. The malt scent is not met with a matching flavor. The earthy, vegetal scent is however. It is bold enough to not feel like a full herbal though, you could probably pass this for a mild assam!

I usually don’t drink herbals, but this has a very smooth, unflavored taste to it that makes me enjoy it very much. Definitely worth a try, and a very cool product to support!

A green tea I like! A rarity so far in my adventure, unfortunately.
Aroma
Very transparent. A little vegetal.
Flavor
Flowery is certainly the flavor they went for. Its a very mild tea, very smooth.
Notes
This was a good tea for preparing for lunch. I’m not very partial to green teas in general, so I probably wouldn’t buy more, but its one of my more yummy greens. I’d certainly recommend it, a nice alternative to jasmine green.

First tea I’m trying from my large pack of samples from the GTT sale! Very exciting!

Aroma
Smells very earthy and malty. Some grassy scent is mixed in with it, but with a darker tone, not a fresh, green smell. This serious Assam means business. ^^
Flavor
Not a dime of astringency. Mmm this is rich. A very pleasant amount of malt, makes for a very smooth cup of tea. It leaves a yummy aftertaste that makes me want more between sips. Not as dark as the aroma was leading me to believe, but still a nicely bodied Assam.
Notes
I shall have to drink my 2nd steep in the morning, this would be a great way to wake up! Ah, but what an intro to GTT, I am excited to try more!

drank Irish Breakfast by Twinings
78 tasting notes

You could do a lot worse buying tea at WalMart. Get the Twinings Classics Black Tea Variety pack, its great.
In-Depth:
Aroma
This smells like a ‘proper’ black tea to me. Very warm, inviting scent. Some malt to it, I also smelled some raisins and lemon citrus undertones. Could be just me. :S Wonderful nonetheless.
Flavor
Has some bitterness, or perhaps I just steeped it longer than I should have. I enjoy a little bitterness, but I imagine others may want to put some milk in. Sugar wouldn’t be necessary. Drink it while its still hot to enjoy it. I swear those raisins are in there.
Notes
I wouldn’t say its a relaxing tea, but who would expect “Irish Breakfast” to calm you down. Its a pleasant pick me up though, and I thoroughly enjoy it. It serves its purpose as a black tea, and serves it well.

A better tea compared to Red Rose’s original black tea blend, however overpriced and mostly nothing special.
In-Depth:
Aroma
Has a very similar scent to Red Rose’s original blend, a bit darker. Some cinnamon overtones. I enjoy Red Rose for everyday drinking, so I enjoy the familiar, relaxing aroma.
Flavor
Much smoother than Red Rose’s original blend. Definitely a tone of cinnamon. I find it to be a very mild black tea, perhaps even calming, even with the caffeine. Not much to the tea, but it is pleasant.
Notes
I enjoyed this tea, however I think it was a bit overpriced. It is a pretty standard black tea, but with some unique cinnamon-y tones. It would be a good tea to drink on a daily basis if the price matched the quality. I doubt if I will buy again, at this price, but I will enjoy the remaining tea bags. Give it a taste, maybe it will be worth it to you!

Very strong scent of bergamot. Its a heavy tea, not one to drink to relax. I don’t particularly like the flavor, but some people seem to like it, so if you like Earl Grey it wouldn’t hurt to give it a shot. If you do, drink it in the morning.

drank Earl Grey by St. Dalfour
78 tasting notes

The bottom line for me: This is a very pleasant and enjoyable tea, but not quite a normal Earl Grey taste you may initially be looking for.
In-Depth:
Aroma
The first thing I notice of this tea is its very unique aroma. It has a wonderful citrus-y scent, very warm and not so strong as to feel like an herbal tea. It actually reminds me of the smell of sweet pipe tobacco mixed with orange peel.
Flavor and Body
The tea is a very light black tea, with strong citrus overtones. The bergamot in this Earl Grey is not very strong. Normally I prefer strong bergamot, however this tea makes it taste just right.
Notes
The tea has a very calm and enjoyable feel to it, and I don’t drink it as an everyday tea, but rather just when I wish to take a few minutes and relax, or perhaps when I am enjoying some reading or dessert. It is certified organic, which is a nice perk. Even if the tea is not of the most high quality or expensive, I truly enjoy this tea over many other, higher priced teas. Give it a taste!
