Tamp and Tap, a fairly new spot (opened earlier this year 2013) downtown, offers specialty coffee (vacuum and manual pourover!) and craft beer (including local favorites like Ghost River) as well as loose leaf tea from Art of Tea (it appears you can buy tins of tea as well). Their signature drinks include London Fog-style tea concoctions with things like lavender syrup and vanilla. Along with sandwiches and light breakfast items any time they offer a tasty brunch menu on weekends that includes things like shrimp and grits with tasso and espresso red eye gravy, crawfish mac and cheese, and pumpkin waffles with candied bacon and pralines. The space is cute, modern, and inviting. It appears they occasionally have live music as well. A much needed oasis now that Crumpets is gone. Not a tea room by any means but a contemporary cafe with good food and smart brews for both coffee and tea (they are the only cafe in Memphis I know of right now that serves loose leaf tea and true tea mixed drinks, not just generic teabag lattes).
