The Chinese Tea Shop Edit

Visited the Chinese Tea Shop of my one-day trip to Vancouver. Daniel was incredibly friendly and informative, and was an absolute pleasure to drink tea with. We talked and drank tea for the better part of 2 hours, and it was a very rewarding experience. I would 100% recommend his shop to anyone who is serious about tea, or even just getting started learning about Chinese teas. Will definitely return whenever I’m back in Vancouver.

Daniel is extremely knowledgeable about Chinese tea and tea ware, and is super friendly too. I have been going to his store for about 4 years now, and learn something new every time I go. Daniel is always happy to make a tea for you to try before you decide to buy it or not (he doesn’t pressure you into buying the tea either). This is my favorite source for Chinese teas, particularly puerh and oolong.
On top of having some of the best tea around, Daniel is also a great teacher. I learned about the Chinese “gong-fu cha” style of making tea from Daniel the first time I went to his store, and have seen him explain it to countless other people over the years. He also has brochures to guide you though your first few times making gong-fu cha, since it can be a little overwhelming at first.
To wrap it all up, I cannot recommend Daniel’s store enough.

The owner has a wide selection of Chinese teas and ceramics. She holds workshops on tea and generously showed me how to use a gaiwan and gave me a sample.

Amazing shop! Daniel is very friendly and knowledgable and has some of the best Chinese tea around, especially aged pu erh. I only wish I lived closer so I could visit more often!

If you like herbal, fruit infused stuff don’t go here, if you like tea that can taste of flowers, honey, earth, cream, citrus, grass or smoke, but still be only made from tea leaves then go here.. They are more than willing to sit you down and teach you how to make tea and taste the difference between the many different varieties avaliable. Highly recommended, not over priced and with quality teas that can be steeped repetitively all days without losing flavour..

Amongst the best places you can go for authentic, direct-from-grower tea. The purveyor is friendly and exceptionally knowledgable. You will likely be offerred to sit down and try some tea made in traditional manner. I never regret going here and recommend it to anyone wanting to explore Chinese/Asian tea. Also has many good-quality accessories.
