A couple of weeks back, I decided to place my first order with 52teas. During checkout, there were technical problems and here is when I experienced first hand the kind of customer service you will get from Frank. I messaged Frank about it, and he responded immediately. He got on the phone with paypal and 3dcart tech people to try and sort the problem out and he kept me abreast of what’s going on. He was very polite, apologetic and helpful. I never felt frustrated during the whole ordeal because I know that he’s there to help me out.
I received the shipment in less than a week, which is not bad at all and I enjoyed every single tea that I have tried so far, so that’s good too. I can’t wait to see what his next blend is going to be. I just wish I could get my hands on all the great blends I missed out on.
Not only will you find yourself experiencing new tea blends that are absolutely fantastic, but you will also find the owner and operator, Frank, to be of the same caliber. If you haven’t checked out 52teas you are definitely missing out on rare treat.
I love 52teas so much. When I look at my spreadsheet of tea, there is just so many of them and I can’t bring myself to count.
For my birthday, I got myself a 3 month tea of the month subscription, since I think there was 15% off orders of $50 or more on my birthday…being Black Friday. I wish I had the money to continue it because I always want everything 52teas has to offer, and the subscription does save you money but then you have the added risk of getting something you may not like. Though, with Steepster, it’s easy to swap with people for something you would like!
I would get my month’s worth of teas within 2 days of the last tea of the week’s posting. That was always a pretty awesome surprise.
While occasionally the teas can be a miss, you have to give Frank credit for trying such unique flavors, even if they’re not your cup of tea (ha ha). Some things are right up my alley and others I did not like so much, but man, were they awesome ideas.
Buying outside a subscription, which I did for months previously, works out just fine too, especially with shipping included.
Quick review for now: I live in Canada and have ordered from 52Teas numerous times. The shipping is always slow (3 or 4 weeks minimum) but it is also always free. I like that. I don’t always love the teas and lately find myself gravitating away from them (with a few exceptions – Merry Berry Rooibos and Blueberry Cream Cheese Danish I am looking at you!) but it was a great experience while it lasted, and the customer service was wonderful. The site was easy to navigate, payment was painless and my orders always had a brief handwritten note included on the receipt. While my tea tastes have changed and I find 52Teas lacking in some ways I still think this is a good company to support and I recommend them to those who enjoy flavoured or unusual blends.
UPDATE: 52Teas is now charging for shipping to Canada which is unfortunately the straw that broke the camel’s back. Though I still encourage others to give them a shot, I find the lengthy shipping time and high cost of tea BEFORE shipping (it’s about $9 for 56 grams which is pretty high for rooibos, honeybush and black teas) to be too much, especially if you factor in $2 shipping cost for the first pouch, $.50 for each additional. I would rather try a tea before I buy it, and it needs to be pretty spectacular to get me to pay 9 dollars for 50 grams.
I am in love! 52teas has been a tea roller coaster adventure! Every week of the year, they release a brand new, limited edition, completely original tea blend.
The blends are unique and delicious, and the Weekly Subscription is very cool. At only $9/week, you get the tea shipped directly to your door. That’s like one trip to Starbucks, but instead I get a month’s worth of tea! (Well, two ounces of tea takes me a month to drink).
I’ve shopped around for monthly tea subscriptions, and most are vastly overpriced. 52teas is just right. Plus, you can choose to have the tea shipped to you on a weekly basis instead of monthly! Talk about convenient!
I’ve liked the vast majority of the blends I’ve received. Only a few have been misses in terms of my personal preference for flavors or tea bases. But this is a high quality company that turns out a great product week after week.
No other tea companies come close to matching the extreme level of excitement I get when ripping open a package from 52teas! What will next week bring? :)
52Teas is my favorite tea company. Why? Because they create a new flavor every week. As a former tea purveyor, I find that fascinating that one could come up with so many flavors and flavor them so well.
That doesn’t mean that every one of them are winners (they can’t all be my favorite), but, it does mean that it is likely that you’ll find something you’ll enjoy. I’ve liked more than I’ve disliked.
The shipping may not be as fast as some other companies, but it is FREE and I’d rather save a few bucks on shipping and wait a while longer than get immediate shipping and pay for it. And I have known instances where when one is in a hurry, Frank will do what he can to get the order to the customer as quickly as possible.
All of that aside, something else that means a lot to me is Frank’s (owner/operator of 52Teas, aka the Willy Wonka of Teas, aka the Chief Zoomdweebie) online presence. I can email him and usually the response time is pretty close to immediate. I am treated like a friend, and not some random customer. I have a great appreciation for that, because regardless of how tempting the flavor combinations might be, if the service was bad, I wouldn’t keep shopping with 52Teas.
By the way, I highly recommend the subscription service! It rocks!
