Discovered this tea shop almost by accident when I was desperately trying to find a new supplier of my favorite oolong tea, Da Hong Pao, in my region. The owner kindly introduced me to many delectable oolong. At that moment, I became a fan of that store as I appreciated the taste and selection of teas they carry. The couple who own The World of Teas are great at pinpointing which teas I might appreciate according to my previous “tastings”. One of them even remind me of David Lee Hoffman, from the documentary All in This Tea I just saw on Netflix, same passion, dedication and expertise, it seems, for great teas.

Lovely store, the lady there was very kind and helpful. Picked up a chasen and chawan, and while they were out of stock of the tea that I had hoped to get that day, I got some of their genmaicha and it is some of the best tea I’ve ever had. I’d like to visit here again sometime.

Good shop. Fair prices. Owner knowledgeable and gets tea from direct source on yearly basis. Selection of tea is likely the largest in the city for unblended teas and all that I have bought from this store has been high quality. Some stock when used is gone for the year I have asked for tea that has been sold out.

Fantastic tea selection aided by a tea aficionado. Absolutely the best tea selection in Ottawa. World of Tea also makes some of their own brews – one of which is a ‘Russian Caravan’ which I have shared with a friend and now have them hooked.

Unfortunately I didn’t have a good experience here. Although the tea itself was good, because I had walked in holding Davidstea in my hands, my visit wasn’t good. The gentlemen running the place was very forward about his negative opinions of Davidstea and it wasn’t good. I was very upset by the whole experience to be honest.
I probably shouldn’t have gone in there with a competitor’s product in hand, but at the same time, I feel the visit should have been better.

The gentlemen in there was very knowledgeable and the tea is pretty good, but unfortunately my experience tarnished them for me.

This is an incredible shop to visit if you’re in the area! The owner is clearly passionate about tea and the tea he’s brought back showcases his love of tea. The selection in the shop is wonderful and a place anyone who loves straight teas should visit if they’re in ottawa. There are a few flavoured/blended teas but for the most part there are just some amazing straight teas from various regions. Well worth the visit!

Love the ambience. You walk into a room panelled with warm, dark wood. Rows of silvery tins line wooden shelves. The slight fragrant scent of the profiled teas greet you as you enter. Photos line the walls which acutally show you the bushes from where teas are picked. The showcase of traditional versus contemporary is truly a delight. If you enjoy the discovery of tea, you will enjoy this store.

Great, clean storefront operation with very knowledgeable and friendly owners. Even with a wide selection of teas of all kinds (especially in the way of oolongs), I’ve found it difficult to go far wrong buying from here; in my experience their teas range from good to top-notch.

I fell in love with this place when my friend and I were walking by and decided to go in. The husband-wife team behind the operation are so knowledgeable, and they took the time to tell us about different teas, the different tools used, and how to “properly” drink tea. They are very passionate about their shop, and their collection of tea pots, cups, tools, and teas is to die for.
