Sorry to say….. this place closed a few years ago. I miss it very much. :(
Dobra, was a little overwhelming for me. I like a little quieter place, a place that smells less like nag champa.
I’ve loved Dobra since it first opened, but sadly, it is closing this week. Never had a bad tea here. Four stars is because I never liked any of the chairs, and the alternative of taking off my shoes and crawling into one of the raised booths to sit on a cushion always made my back hurt. But Dobra was a gracious experiment and a reliable place to get the very best teas, meticulously prepared.
Amazing amazing amazing. I always make time for a few visits to Dobra every time I’m back in town.
I have had many great teas there, also many interesting teas that I don’t think I’d find anywhere else (and haven’t so far).
The staff are lovely and very knowledgeable. I love the atmosphere, the snacks, the seating areas… really wish I could spend the rest of my life there.
I forgot to mention the great house teas they have! They make an iced tea with a funny name (forgot, sorry) that is shaken like a martini so it has a very lovely and almost beer-like foam on top! Really the perfect treat for a hot day!
Also, if you come in a group, I suggest you share a Touareg (Moroccan mint tea with honey) and also all get your own kind of tea so you can do a sort of a tea tasting!
This is such an enchanting place. The raised platform seating is super comfortable, relaxing, and altogether makes you feel right at home. The warm atmosphere, part from the nice decor and the friendly staff, makes me wish I lived a heck of a lot closer to Madison.
The teas are also top of the line, with the Mo Li Hua Cha being my favorite I tried (I was in Madison this weekend and I came here thrice in three days.) The teaware is also super nice and the loose tea that’s available will be a prize in my cupboard for as long as it holds out (probably not long.)
Definitely my favorite tea place I’ve been to so far.
Small place on Madison’s State Street. Thoroughly enjoyed the Chai Chai Chai, the atmosphere and the knowledgeable staff. Have yet to try the food, but look forward to going back!
