25 Tasting Notes
I got this tea as a sample with my last order.
Well, I´m not very much into herbal teas and this one is blended with 8 herbal among other things with Japanese medlar. I was a bit skeptical
My parameters were:
10g, 450ml, pitcher, 95°C 100°C
30sec, 1 min, 2 min, 3 min
I got a very pleasant golden yellowish liquor of this tea with a mild body that had hints of spicy and a slightly sweet aftertaste. There were a multilayered taste, but I´m unable to name these flavor components. No bitterness at all.
And even cold was this tea very delicious.
Would I buy a full-size bag of this tea? Yes. I was positively convinced by this tea. Maybe I should give blended tea a chance :)
Flavors: Spicy, Sweet
Preparation
I purchased the one-pot-size.
The dry needle shaped tea leaves were dark green and turned mushy with a small leaf size after steeping.
The fragrance of the dry tea leaves were sweetish vegetal. My Steeping Instructions were 10g per 90ml water, at 60-80°C for 10sec-2,5min. 4 Infusions were possible.
The liquor was slightly turbid and yellowish green with an umami-rich taste which was slightly salty and sweet, smooth and slightly viscous.
Conclusion: An umami-rich tea, which changes its flavor profile slowly.
After brewing this Gyokuro you can enjoy its used tea leaves by adding a little soy sauce and citrus juice.
My tea leaves were mild, a little bit sweet and a hint of seaweed was still there.
Preparation
Dark green, needle shaped tea leaves which turn into mushy small leaves after steeping. The Fragrance was sweetish vegetal.
The liquor was light cloudy with a vibrant yellowish green. Very rich in umami and amami and smooth like a good Gyokuro. It would be a waste not to enjoy it like a Gyokuro. So my steeping instructions were: 5g per 80ml water, at 60-75°C for 10sec-2min, 4 Infusions were possible
Preparation
The dry tea leaves are rich dark green, needle shaped and have a heavy grassy smell with a pleasant sweetness for me.
The Liquor varies depending the infusion between dark golden toned and greeny yellow and is a little cloudy.
This Kabusecha has a balanced flavor of vegetal and grassy flavors, which is accompanied all the while by a sweetness.
4-5 Infusions were possible
Steeping time between 30 sec and 2 min
Preparation
A really nice and uncomplicated tea although the floral profile was fairly simple, it was by no means boring. A sweet body which reminds me of honey(?) and a fresh finish make this tea to a great everyday tea.
Flavors: Flowers, Honey
