Each time I pass by Perpignan I have to drop in here! It’s on the same road as the Musée Rigaud and the Cafétiere Catalane (a Dammann Frères stockist) making a good quick trip for tea shopping.
The staff are very friendly, the atmosphere is lovely: there is seating outside in the little garden/terrace area out front, and inside, where there are displays of their products for sale such as infusers, teapots, mugs, recipe books etc.
THE O DOR is their loose tea stockist, and one reason I’m always going back is that their minimum amount of loose leaf tea that you can purchase is 25g, whereas it’s 100g in THE O DOR stores. This gives me the opportunity to buy lots of little samples :) If you’re not familiar with the range they also have a menu with the teas listed by black/green/oolong/white, and the flavours in them.
As a proud member of Tea Society at the University of Kent I’m happy to say I’m a regular here! One of the nicest tea rooms I’ve ever been to.
The staff are kind and very friendly and are knowledgeable about their teas. And what a range of teas they have, too- every so often they will get in some truly amazing and unusual flavours (Chocolate Fudge Cake Honeybush! Sweet Chilli Cherry Rooibos!) as well as some more “standard” types, and some rarer green and white teas. The building is cosy and always well-kept and nicely decorated; great place to take family out to when visiting :) The tearoom isn’t wheelchair-accessible, unfortunately.
A good firm favourite whenever I visit London! Their range of blends is brilliant, lots of interesting choices amongst classic teas; they brew tea perfectly, never scalded, and have great methods for serving chai lattes and iced tea in their magic jugs. Their staff are always happy to talk blends with you but sadly, not always while you’re ordering. In this particular branch a good percentage of their teapots can be leaky, so watch out.
Recommending all of the teas named after parts of London (Regent’s Park, Soho Spice, Notting Hill), their toasted sandwiches and sweet things. This is a lovely place for a casual meetup or a date with thrown-together furniture, lounge armchairs downstairs, free wi-fi and tea refills, but for something a little smarter, head to the Camden branch.
