drank Honeydew Mate by DAVIDsTEA

You know why I love Steepster? (Or, one of the reasons, at least.) Because I learn so much from all of you awesome people. Like cold brewing. I’d never heard of the wonder of cold brewing until I joined here. I used to make my iced tea like a barbarian! Boiling water on hot, sweaty days just to steep and pour over ice. And I’d always over-ice, so I would have to guzzle it down before it all melted and watered-down the tea.

But now, thanks to your knowledge, I just toss some tea and water in a big ol’ Mason jar, let it sit in the fridge overnight, and voila! Perfect ice cold tea ready to go. You’re all geniuses, I tell you, Genius!

So yeah, I cold brewed my sample of this. I’m not normally a huge fan of mate, but this one is good. I think the green rooibos helps to cut the mate taste. It’s very juicy, just like a big bite of melon. When I had tried this hot, I got more of an artificial watermelon taste (Anyone else remember Bubbalicious Watermelon?). But cold, it tastes more actual honeydew! And the smell… pure overripe melon goodness.

I always forget I want to coldbrew something, and then I wake up in the morning and think, “Oh crap! I forgot to put tea in the fridge again!LOL!

A tea fanatic who works in the tech sector, I purchase most of my tea online. The numerical ratings are to help me remember which teas I should re-order. 85+ means it’s worth a re-purchase. (If I ever get through all of the new ones I want to try!)

It’s pretty obvious from my tealog, but I have special place in my heart for flavored blacks and good rooibos. I also love oolongs, but apparently have expensive taste in that area, so I don’t purchase them too often. Learning to appreciate green tea, but not a fan of overly vegetal ones. Whites make a great iced tea.

I love to try new teas and will sample most anything once. Although I’ll usually pass on Earl Grey or super floral blends.

I drink my tea with no additions, unless otherwise noted in the review.
