56 Tasting Notes
Don’t mind this one. I can’t stand the taste of ginger but it’s more heat than flavour in this case, which I can deal with. The licorice root adds a nice sweetness without overpowering. Mint should have been the star with spices as the complimenting flavour rather than the other way around. Overall, not horrible but I won’t be buying more. Note – as it cooled down I started to taste bubblegum? Wasn’t expecting that lol.
SO GOOD! Really does taste like french toast. I don’t find the cardamom overpowering at all either. I added just a bit of milk with the first steep since it already has cane sugar, then for the second I added milk and a tiny bit of sugar. I think maple syrup would be nice as well. The creamy bread taste (never thought I’d get that in a tea lol) with the milk reminds me of a tea latte (without using a huge amount of tea – SCORE!). I used 1.5 perfect spoons and got two decent steeps in a large mug. My favourite from DavidsTea so far!
Looks and smells nice in the tin. Smells even better steeped, just like an After Eight mint. The after-taste is really strange though? Bitter, slighty soapy (maybe just me?), and I saw someone mention dirt. Kind of agree lol. It’s not so bad that I can’t finish a cup but I’m not looking forward to the rest of the sample. It’s a shame because I love mint and you do get that and the chocolate at first, but as soon as it hits the back of my tongue I shudder a bit. I’ll have to try it with some milk and see if that helps with the after-taste. Used 1 perfect spoon for a large mug. The second steeping was a lot better so maybe half a PS next time?
I liked it! Was nervous to try this one after reading the reviews. For what you’re expecting (based on the name and dry/steeped smell) it’s not good at all lol. All I can taste is licorice and hot spices. Not what I was hoping for, but I really like licorice/spicyness so I still enjoy it. It’s a really beautiful orange color when steeped and I got two decent steeps out of one perfect spoonful in a large mug. Tried the second steep with a bit of milk (nice) and it didn’t bring any cake-like flavours out.
