The trouble I have with Vanilla rooibos teas is that the vanilla is never strong enough- and this tea is no exception. There’s a bit of vanilla at the beginning of the sip which then immediately goes to woody rooibos. Nothing offensive about this tea, but nothing spectacular. I’ll use it up, but not a repurchase. I preferred the lapacho vanilla chai over this.

I’m finishing up the last of this now, and what I’ve noticed is that the vanilla is very much in the smell, and when you first brew up the tea it’s very present, but after it cools down to a drinkable temperature you can’t really taste the vanilla very much :/
also, probably the best “vanilla” rooibos I’ve had is birthday cake from DAVIDs. I know it has artificial flavours, but the cakey vanilla flavor is very much present and it brews up and awesome latte.
I swear rooibos tastes even stronger as it cools. And I agree, Birthday Cake is probably my favourite so far too since it at least has a lot of flavour. It tastes like maple icing to me! Maple icing that covers up the base haha.
I think I may be the only one who really enjoyed this one. Love it, the smell, the taste and one thing I am noticing from IhoT teas, is that they taste amazing cold. As a mom of two, this is a huge thing haha
@Holly, I got this tea in a sampler pack and perhaps the was it was packaged (tiny Ziploc in a tin) changed the strength of the flavouring. Perhaps I should try this fresh out of the main container that iHOT has, because I find with a lot of their other flavoured teas (including rooibos, honeybush, vanilla decaf green) the flavouring is spot on and a good strength regardless of hot or cold.
Have you tried their early grey cream rooibos? Love it!
I agree! I’ve never had good luck with vanilla rooibos blends. MOAR VANILLA!
Glad I’m not the only one!
