This tea is okay at best. I was really excited and picked it up on the day it was released. I made it when I got home and noticed that I smelt a slight metallic/alcohol scent when I opened the bag. Unfortunately scent taste really came through in the aftertaste of the tea.

On the bright side, the metallic taste is subdued with the addition of a little bit of brown sugar. I will continue to drink this tea as a rare treat (I never add sweetener to my tea) until I run out. I will not repurchase as I do not like adding sugar/honey/agave to my tea. If you don’t mind adding in some sweetener this tea is actually quite delicious. The brown sugar gave it a caramel quality which reminded me of peach cobbler with ice-cream.

This tea is one of my absolute favorite herbal teas. I love strawberry rhubarb pie and I love that there is a tea that is reminiscent of that flavor.

Dry tea aroma: Sun dried strawberries with a hint of tangy yoghurt.

Tea aroma: Primarily tart rhubarb with the subtle smell of sweet strawberries.

Tea color: This tea starts out purple and turns into a deep ruby.

Tea Taste: I love this tea because it is not overly bitter like herbals tend to be. It is a perfect balance of sweet strawberry, bitter rhubarb and tangy yoghurt. Absolutely delicious.

Side note: I find it really odd that there is more carrots in this tea than there is strawberries.. Oh well, whatever works!

Aha! Another year-old tea put to pasture..Found this sucker in my cupboard today.. It was in a sample pack.. The dry leafs are covered in powder (probably cinnamon) and there are huge chocolate chips.. I’m worried about the chocolate creating a film on top of my tea.. Extremely worried..

Dry Aroma: For some reason all I smell is chocolate covered raisins.. There are no raisins in this blend.. Smells yummy though!

Tea Aroma:Roasted mate with chocolate and raisin.. Seriously why do I smell raisins..

Color: Murky medium brown.

Taste: A deep roasted flavor with notes that are reminiscent of a mocha. I taste no raisins (yay!).

There is a light layer of film on top, I can see it but I can’t feel it in my mouth (double yay!). I would definitely repurchase this tea..

I’m on a mission to drink and finish all my teas that are getting a little old. I found this one in the back of my tea cupboard today and I’m glad I did. I have to tell you though I am biased because I love anything with coconut and caffeine.

Dry Aroma: Toasted nuts with a hint of sweetness

Tea Aroma: It still primarily smells of toasted nuts. The black tea scent is in the background

Color: Deep amber brown

Tea Taste: Full bodied with a toasted nut flavor with a touch of sweetness from the coconut.

This was one of the first teas that I ever purchased from DAVIDsTea. I was trying to replace my peach mate from teaopia (which had be discontinued). The first time I tried this tea it was hot, and I absolutely hated it. Now here I am, more than a year later digging through my tea cupboard when I found this. I decided to make a batch of it iced to see if it tastes any better and to be honest just to get rid of the bag.

Dry Aroma: The dry tea leafs smell primarily of orange juice. There are subtle notes of pineapple and mate. Overall a fairly pleasant smell.

Tea Aroma: When steeped the mate smell is much more prominent and the smells of orange and pineapple move to the background.

Tea Color: A golden amber tinged with green.

Tea Taste: The tea taste much more pleasant iced then it did hot. The green mate really comes through and it finishes with a nice citrus zing. I was sad that the subtle pineapple smell did not come through in the flavor.

Overall this tea is O.K. but I wouldn’t repurchase. Looks like I need to continue my search for the perfect mate.

Edit: The more I drink this pitcher of iced tea, the more I hate the flavor.
