powdery astringency flowed beautifully with light broth and extended aftertaste

Due to poor balance of astringency, texture(broth), and flavor/aroma, I’d place this tea in the “avoid” category.

There are many other options to prefer over this one. I recommend an early or even mid-Spring harvest dragon well (long jing) from the West Lake area (Zhejiang Province).

Received a CONDITIONAL 85 on WTR. This dan cong has been infused with natural osmanthus flower. It is not an osmanthus oolong varietal with inherent osmanthus notes.

The difference between the 2 is like an actual rose and a flower that has been scented with rose oil.

This is not a negative reflection on thePuritea company as a whole. Their updated product description for their dan cong provides clarification.

WTR score of 88. Lighter in aftertaste (sweetness). Norbu has generally performed better in consistently sourcing ali shans.

WTR score of 92 because it is well balanced and extended aftertaste. However, if you are chasing more intense aroma, seek Rishi’s Bai Hao Hsinchu.
