This tea was an absolute ride! I’m not much of an oolong drinker but I thoroughly enjoyed this tea. Pumpkin seed, carrot, coffee and black cherry were such surprising flavours, but I enjoyed them immensely.

Received this as a mini/sample from White2Tea in a package from Teawarehouse. I’m not well-versed in white teas, so I was interested in trying it.

Flavour: tree bark on the nose, something nutty at the back. Medium astringency.

All in all not my style and nothing to write home about.

Flavors: Astringent, Bark, Black Walnut, Earthy, Nutty, Tannin

Preparation
175 °F / 79 °C 0 min, 45 sec 5 tsp 4 OZ / 130 ML

This is a great Sencha. I mostly cold brew it (5-10g/1000ml) and it’s so refreshing on a hot day. Subtle marine flavours like seaweed and ocean mist, as well as fresh grass. Not as strong as it would be if brewed hot.

Flavors: Ocean Air, Seaweed, Sweet, Warm Grass

Preparation
Iced 8 min or more 10 g 27 OZ / 800 ML

I need to get busy cold brewing some Sencha. Thanks for the reminder!

The first time I had this I drank it grandpa style, following the advice of Zhen Tea on youtube, and I’m so glad I did. The aroma after pouring boiling water just over the top of the tea leaves was incredible. I’ve never had tea smell like baking cookies before! But I digress.

This tea was fantastic. Very buttery, and nutty. Not bitter or astringent at all. I had a lot of fun munching on the tender leaves as I was drinking as well (although those were a bit astringent but not unbearable). I was using a very tall glass so I only got 2 infusions out of it but that’s really all I needed. I’d never tried anything western/grandpa style and it was so neat! I will be buying this again.

My lazy heart loves grandpa style ha ha, especially for red and aged white teas.

It was my very first time brewing anything grandpa style and I’d say it was a success!

I absolutely love this tea. It’s the first gyokuro I’ve ever tried and I’m not lying when I say when I took my first sip – sparks flew. I never knew tea could taste like this! Almost like a soup broth! It was fascinating! Japanese greens have very quickly become my favourite type of tea and I’ve been experimenting with them for the last few weeks. This one is definitely a winner in my book.

Flavors: Mushrooms, Seaweed, Spinach, Umami

Preparation
160 °F / 71 °C 2 min, 30 sec 5 g 7 OZ / 200 ML

Gyokuro is definitely a whole different animal, even from other Japanese greens! I love it too, but it’s not something I drink often. It’s one of the few teas that actually gives me a buzz!
