I wrote a tasting note somewhere and then misplaced it, and my brain is currently not retaining a whole lot of information, so here we are. All I can really recall is I’ve had some bad experiences with cacao teas, so I went in here with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. It felt well-balanced and easy to drink. I don’t know that I’d seek it out, but I would be happy to have it again.
sipsby Bagged Advent, Day 3
Steeped this one up as a morning cuppa in the office today. Just gonna keep the note short and simple, as I’m reaching a bit of a wall tonight where I kind of am mentally done writing tasting notes – but just wanted to make sure to emphasize just how consistently smooth the cacao/chocolate notes of this tea are. Like a perfect slice of chocolate cake.
So when I bought this my expectations were low, but I just wanted a guayusa or mate in teabag form so I could have something a little more energizing/focus driven for travel. I was actually really pleasantly surprised by just how delicious the cacao flavour used in it was. It reminded me exactly of the chocolate/caramel flavouring combination in Wize Monkey’s Chocolate Dream coffee leaf blend and that’s probably my favourite chocolate tea in my entire collection – so the comparison is high praise! I definitely did not taste any guayusa, but I was just so preoccupied by the excitement of finding a chocolate tea that excited me so much that I didn’t care.
