Satori Tea Company

I’ve been drinking this a few times per month because it makes a nice latte on days when I’m having caffeine. I enjoyed it this morning with some unsweetened soy milk and a touch of sugar. The sugar actually doesn’t come through at all, but the black base is very strong and tannic if you forget your teabag for 45 minutes like I did.

I normally only get rose and rich tannins. Today because of the longer steep, I’m getting some lychee fruity notes. Since lychee is already floral, it blends into the rose really nicely. The bitterness from the tea needs milk and sugar to counter it. On shorter steeps, it feels a bit one-dimensional having just rose and tannin without any under tones or after tastes. It might make a nice summer iced tea if sweetened and served very cold. I might save my remaining tea for that.

If you like rose black tea this blend will be for you. If you like your black tea strong, you will have to brew it extra strong and then add milk/creamer because you don’t get the intricate tea notes until you brew it longer but by then I find it too bitter to have plain.

My first steeping of this didn’t go well. I don’t know what I did but it was one of those cups where you drink it because it’s drinkable but you won’t review it because you get the feeling it’s not at it’s best. This steep is better. There are very slight hints of coconut but that is a flavor that is hard to impart on tea. Good amount of spicy and just a bare touch of earth from the tea base.

I’ve been drinking this tea various ways for the past 24 hours, trying different methods to help it be its best. I think I like it best at room temperature with almond milk. However, there’s just something about this one that’s not working for me. The strawberry comes off as super tangy and doesn’t seem to combine well with the honeybush base. Those are the only flavors I get – tangy fruit and something from the base, but they just don’t work together. Drinkable, but not amazing for me.

This blend is made with South African honeybush, so it’s my pick for today’s sipdown prompt. Satori Tea Company is one of my favorites – yes, I know I say this every time – and this blend is a good one. It’s strawberry candy all the way. I love it.

Appreciating the little things tonight, the small miracles I so often take for granted – a clear sky, twinkling stars and a slivered moon on display. Moody, dark photographs. Words of rest and peace and inspiration too. Simultaneous quiet + chatty, playful kittens in the background. A new outlook, literally, as I’ve moved to a different window space to work late tonight. Maybe a new outlook mentally as well. Embracing hope.

I tried coconut milk in this cup and it curdled, but it’s delicious and the ribbons are lovely and since I don’t actually have to chew it I’ll call that a win. ; )

I hope the sky is just as lovely, just as beautiful and just peaceful, wherever you are tonight.

I’ve been digging around on the Mandala Tea website, reading through everything so I can make a ridiculous list of teas to buy and try. Anyway, I found out that they sell trace mineral drops as a flavor enhancement and since I have some at home already I decided to add a few drops to my tea today. Has anyone else tried this? I’m not sure if I can taste the difference but I like the idea of it and I’m getting some good stuff in. Might experiment with adding a few more drops with each cup to see what I like best.

This is a papaya-flavored tea and while I’m not a fan of fresh papaya I do like this blend. It tastes more like peach to me, I think. Which I love, of course.

This isn’t my favorite from Satori Teas, but that isn’t saying much. I think I’ve loved every tea I’ve tried from there. This one’s probably lighter in flavor than some of the others but still floral and fruity – peach maybe?

I love Satori Teas, they have several favorites of mine. The primary flavor/aroma of this calls to mind a peach tea. It’s floral as well. I think I bought up all of their floral teas, lol. They are just so good.

Just a really nice rose-flavored black tea. I don’t taste anything fruity, but I’m not familiar with the flavor of lychee so perhaps I’m missing it. Either way, this is a comforting cup of flowers.

This was not only a new-to-me tea blend, but a tea company I’d never even heard of! Based on this one, I’d be interested in trying more from Satori in the future. The fruit flavors are clean and fresh and not at all artificial and the black tea base provides a nice depth. This one’s staying with me!

Vibrant gold color. Steeped leaves are very vegetal. Tea gives off strong oyster notes. Tastes full bodied, thick, creamy, very salty and fishy (oysters). Astringent aftertaste.

Second steep is more balanced. Minerality balances saltiness and oyster taste of first steep. Mouth puckering body.

So, this is technically the second time I’ve had this, but I can’t remember much about the first time, because I have been in a haze the last few weeks, and I didn’t really pay much attention to this tea. However, today I was determined to remember to be better about it, and make a note, since Shae was so kind in sharing this with me…as her first trade. :)

I definitely got spice, and your basic chai spice, it seemed to be balanced blend…and although I could not detect it immediately, I got a very nice warming coconut note at the end of the sip. So lovely.

I did not make this latte style, but I did brew a little extra and use milk at the end.

Another restock of an old favorite! This one is full of large coconut shavings and smells just like gingersnap cookies. It’s nice to have it back in my tea cabinet again. If Satori ever goes out of business, I’ll be so sad. They have so many good blends!

The last of my coconut chai. I was reading one of my past notes that said this tastes like gingersnaps and it really does. I’ll miss this one but plan to pick up more once I can place another order with Satori Tea.

I love this stuff.

This tea is a faithful one. Nutty coconut, spicy gingersnaps.
