So this one was a gift from an Instagram friend in a swap many moons ago. Thank you, tea friend!

I thought I would really love it based on the name and the description, seems similar to Lady Grey but it has grapefruit. I love grapefruit! However, for some reason the rose is quite strong to me, which is so weird because it doesn’t even mention rose flavor. There are rose petals mixed in for aesthetics, but that shouldn’t really affect the flavor much.

We all know that I don’t like rose. Happily it’s not terribly strong, though it does sort of become the main flavor of this tea. So not something I would ever buy for myself…

Smoked lapsang isn’t a favorite of mine, I find it to be generally overwhelming even though I typically like smoked foods. This one was gifted to me by an Instagram friend in a tea swap.

It’s fine, a mix of dark wood, campfire smoke, savory smoked meat, and earth. Quite a bit of minerality as well, which ties in with the earthy part.

Anyway, not a favorite for me. But it’s the thought that counts! :)

Another swap tea from my friend @thismorningstea on Instagram!

As far as oolongs go, those with a high oxidation and low-to-medium roast are generally my favorites. Pannikin’s website doesn’t seem to have any information on this one, but from the dark color and somewhat mild roasty flavor I assume it falls into that category. Tieguanyin seems to vary a bit as far as roast goes.

Anyway! This has a lovely smooth and thick mouthfeel with a mellow toasty flavor. It’s very autumnal, reminding me of crisp fallen leaves and roasted nuts. There’s also a sparkling mineral note to it, and hints of dried fruit. But I do still taste a slight underlying leafy “greenness” as well. In the first cup, I was tasting a lot of citrus, specifically grapefruit, which I assumed was flavor contamination from the grapefruit black tea that this traveled alongside. But I’m not getting that flavor in this last cup, so that’s interesting!

Anyway, it’s a fairly simple tea, but cozy and satisfying for an evening on the couch. Thanks, tea friend!

Now, this is more lemony!

This blend is predominantly herbal citrus with a side of peppermint. I like the lemon aspect of it, but it still comes out tasting like a muddled mix of herbal stuff. And the peppermint is somewhat “wet rag” tasting…

It’s okay, but a bit generic and boring. If there was just a bit more lemon zip from some peel or something, it would really add another dimension.

But thanks to @thismorningstea on Instagram for the share!

Never heard of that company before, but there are many of them :D

Cameron B.

I hadn’t heard of them either, this is a company local to the person with whom I swapped!

That’s always nice to have something local for the other person!

San Diego airport brew whilst I wait for my plane to Colorado to board. The staff that made the tea used boiling water, or extremely hot… but definitely not 175-185F, which I think would have made this tea better.

Putting the above peeve aside, the tea is nice. I order this everytime I fly out of San Diego, and will continue to.

Aroma and taste are nutty and vegetal, as described, but the “buttery finish” never happens for me, most likely due to the water temp.

Maybe in the future I’ll ask to have them not put the bag of tea in the water until I can let it cool down.

I like this one by itself with no added sweetener. Although, I do think i will have to blend it with some goodies just for fun. Nice to have one that doesnt have caffene for winding down in the evening.

First cup of the day. I choose you monkey picked oolong. I’m hoping the buttery earthy goodness of this tea will help get my day headed in the right direction. Good Tea.

This is a good tea. Not something I would be willing to pay for often. It is smooth earthy and a little nutty. This is my favorite Oolong that I have had. I do love that it is buttery smooth. Watching the whole leaves unfurl while steeping is pretty glorius. I would be more likely to drink this more if the price was right. Don’t get me wrong this is a really nice tea but not as good as the price would suggest.

It is good in the morning and the evening. The Earl Grey (bergamot) gives it just a hint of sweetness.

Starting the Day off right with a cup of Coconut Ginger. This tea is very forgiving when it comes to steep times.
