Sipdown and thank you dreamloomer!
After 6 hours of lectures sitting in front of screen, with 30 minutes lunch break, indeed Hello, Sofa!
I decided to steep longer than previous time; though last time it was very hot and spicy and I wasn’t that impressed. Though it says it contains matcha, I again went for boiling water.
Quite paradoxically, it was mellower than last time and now I can agree with “An easy going all-organic Spicy Chai with Matcha” on their bag. I am not really able to distinguish spices, but I think I noticed pepper and cinnamon, unfortunately much less orange zest than last time.
I find this tea interesting, but not looking trying again. Maybe less ginger/pepper notes and it would be more interesting… is base bit missing? I keep 70/100, as I am not that much impressed of this tea. But I am glad I could try it.
Very curious person over!
Flavors: Black Pepper, Cinnamon, Ginger, Orange Zest
Preparation
A tea from dreamloomer, thank you a lot!
I took the bag out of foil wrapping and a cloud of spices appeared. At first I thought it was dust, but it wasn’t.
Hints of matcha should be in, but anyway, I brewed it with boiling water.
THIS IS HOT Chai!
It’s very spicy; flavours were mostly pepper and cloves… cinnamon was there as well. Base was probably from orange as it was bit sweet but still somehow tangy. Haven’t noticed the apples!
Whoo, it was maybe too much spicy for me. I am not sure if I will drink second bag or will send it to someone; as it could be lovely as Advent tea (if we decide to make advent teas for others, see discussions! )
Flavors: Black Pepper, Cinnamon, Cloves, Orange Zest
Preparation
Yep, it’s really spicy. Maybe try to brew it the chai way, milk will make the spiciness more mellow.
A tea I have from dreamloomer. Thank you!
An okay fruit tea as yesterday Raspberry Herbal. But this one is apparently apple & cranberry.
It is very apple in taste. Fresh and ripe red apples with its skins, expected flavour, nothing artificial, it was quite genuine in taste. The cranberry was present as well, although much weaker but I liked it as it was present as bit tart, but nice aftertaste.
Enjoyable herbal!
Flavors: Apple Skins, Cranberry, Red Apple, Tart
Preparation
Well, today Steepster is working quite fast and smoothly for me.
Sometimes it takes longer than expected, but certainly it’s loading at least.
Another tea from dreamloomer, thanks a lot!
I wanted something quite simple, wasn’t really in a mood for caffeined tea, so I picked this herbal. Well, it is what it says — peppermint and lemongrass, while lemongrass bit more present, so it has some lemongrass flavours with refreshing aftertaste.
Nothing great, but certainly not bad.
Flavors: Lemongrass, Peppermint
Preparation
Because of our bad internet connection I lost tasting note I wrote yesterday. I kept it opened, but my laptop decided to restart itself, so everything lost.
I have received few Danish teas from dreamloomer, so dzięki bardzo!
Tea itself is disappointment though. The base is overpowering the flavours, so it is very malty tea with hints of sweet notes from elderflowers and rhubarb I haven’t noticed at all. Maybe I had different idea of this tea, or it has got best time over?
They have selected wrong base I think.
Flavors: Malt
Preparation
I don’t know if you have ever eaten rhubabrb, Martin, but it’s very tart. This just sounds like an odd combo with which to flavor tea…
Strong forest fruit notes in aroma, natural and warming.
The base black tea is very subtle and unfortunately bland. I like the fruit notes in taste, but they are overwhelmed by the bland tea. Not recommended.
Flavors: Blackberry, Fruity, Raspberry, Strawberry
Preparation
Very strong aroma of cinnamon, black pepper, cardamom and gloves right after getting the eta bag out of the wrapper.
Also very strong after steeping, very spicy, but with no trace of matcha (obviously, since it’s only 2% of the package). The whole aroma profile reminds me of roasted apples with spices. Very warming, very winter-y.
The taste is also fruity, but not with apple, rather with the orange peels. Plus obviously all the spice extravaganza along with the spicy bite from black pepper.
To sum up: very tasty warming tea made with fresh, aromatic ingredients. I wish it had ore proper tea, but it’s still great.
With my first brewing I wanted to drink it neat. Next time I’ll try to brew it in the proper chai way.
Edit: I brewed it in the proper chai way, sweet and with milk (rice milk; iI’m not vegan, but recently I somehow don’t like dairy in my teas and coffees).
And it’s delicious! Smoth, sweet, full-bodied, rich, with solid peppery spiciness and the rest of the spices. A perfect winter warmer.
Flavors: Apple, Apple Skins, Black Pepper, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Clove, Orange Zest, Spices, Spicy
Preparation
Malt, honey and strawberry jam in aroma.
The taste is malty and fruity, with no sweetness. Nice brew where the fruity flavours don’t overshadow the base tea.
Flavors: Fruity, Honey, Jam, Malt, Strawberry
Preparation
I like teas, which are fruity, but you still notice the base. Unfortunately here it is not easy to find.
Martin, I guess they’re nowhere easy to find. I’m just glad when I come across such tea. I usually dont expect much and sometimes I’m pleasantly surprised.
Strong, warming, fruity aroma.
Solid malty taste with strong but slightly withdrawn fruity notes.
Very good warming brew, not overdone with fruit, not artificial and not losing the base black tea.
Flavors: Blueberry, Fruity, Malt, Raspberry
Preparation
Balanced mix of quince and decent green tea in aroma.
Slight astringency, very good green base tea, notes of quince more in the background (but definitely not subdued).
Very balanced and very good tea.
Flavors: Fruity, Hay, Straw
Preparation
Great, refreshing bouquet of peppermint and lemongrass in aroma.
The taste is not that strong, though the brew is refreshing and light.
Not bad, but not especially good either.
It would probably turn out great asa cold brew on a sunny day.
Flavors: Citrus, Lemongrass, Mint, Peppermint
Preparation
Strong apple aroma, very warming and hyggeligt, with just a right amount of cinnamon added.
Warming taste, very fruity, with no unnecessary sweetness. Not overdone with spices, the apple is in the foreground. Too bad that the cranberry hides well in the back.
Flavors: Apple, Cinnamon, Cranberry, Spices
Preparation
Very faint aroma, with traces of elderflower over a malty black tea base.
Sweetish taste, with evident rhubarb here (but none of its sourness) and flower elderflower notes.
All in all it’s not bad, but seems slightly half-baked.
Flavors: Flowers, Fruity, Malt, Rhubarb
Preparation
Milk, caramel and sweetness are dominant, you can barely taste the black tea. Not actually bad and it really brings the proper chai to mind, but could use more of the tea component.
But if dissolved not in water, but in previously brewed black tea, it becomes much more interesting, more rich and complex. I suggest this way of preparing.
Flavors: Caramel, Milk, Spices, Sweat
Preparation
Strong chocolate and caramel aroma, with solid, malty black tea base.
The taste is not that good. I generally like Fredsted teas, but this one tastes like a steeped cardboard – bland, watery, with artificial flavouring.
Flavors: Cardboard
Preparation
At first no quince in aroma, just earthy, malty base tea. After the brew cools down a little,, it becomes quite strong.
In taste there’s a nice balance between quince and tea notes.
All in all it’s nothing special, but passable.
Flavors: Fruity
Preparation
Strong florl bergamot aroma with slight spicy notes.
Spicyness evident in taste, with very subtle bergamot. The base black tea seems bland and watery.
Can’t recommend it. Not very “earlgreyish”.
Flavors: Bergamot, Spicy
Preparation
Very refreshing, fruity aroma, quite balanced.
The taste is quite full, malty, with subtle notes of buckthorn and citrusy notes in the background. The tea is no sour at all, though it contains two sour ingredients.
Flavors: Fruity, Lemon, Lemongrass, Malt
Wow, what an interesting idea for a tea. Also, it’s funny they call it “herbal tea” when it has matcha, ha ha! That could be a fun surprise for someone expecting no caffeine. :P
Agreed. Calling it an herbal is a bit misleading. I wonder how many people decided to drink this as a relaxing cup before bed. :D
It contains only 2 per cent of Matcha. So it is 0,036g of Matcha in each tea bag. How much caffeine can it contain? Almost nothing in my opinion.
Okay, that makes a bit more sense and probably wouldn’t keep anyone up. Still, saying it’s an herbal is strange.
