I found this on sale today at the store, so I picked up one box of this, along with a box of organic genmaicha. Instead of drinking this straight up, I made ochazuke with it! I layered cooked white rice, umeboshi (pickled plum) paste, wakame seaweed flakes, and bonito flakes in a bowl, poured a cup of hot green tea over it, and then topped it with some crumbled seaweed/wasabi flavored rice cake. Umai!

A good basic green tea. Nothing special, I think this was bought to drink with the tonkatsu dinner I made with my boyfriend a while back, and it seemed wrong to have Chinese green tea. Haha, it’s good though, but I prefer jasmine.

Although this has a little bitterness, it’s just enough to round out the flavor and no more. The jasmine isn’t particularly strong, but so what? To me this is a good green tea with just a touch of jasmine, and I’ll happily drink it when I’m looking for something simple and warm.

Another Coffee and Tea Festival aquisition, this time a sample from the goodie bag. I love Jasmine tea, so I was pleased to see it in there!

This tea brewed up to have an orangey-yellow liquor, and a lovely jasmine smell. Unfortunately the jasmine flavor is not as strong in the drink itself, though it gets better as it cools slightly. My baseline comparison for jasmine teas is an unlabeled jasmine green I brought back from China 5 years ago, and it’s still overwhelmingly pungently jasmine when brewed. I enjoyed this cup, but I think I’d search elsewhere if I needed to replenish my jasmine tea stash.
