A friend of mine told me if I like premium tea and am already a fan of California Tea House then I’m really missing out if I have not tried their Golden Monkey Paw and Yunnan Golden Buds. So, like any other person who can’t turn down a good recommendation, here I am drinking my first cup of Golden Monkey Paw, and I have to tell my buddy Dave, “Dang! You are right!”
This tea is so perfectly clean, full rounded and just simply delicious. I guess I have to buy the Yunnan now.

This is a hearty Oolong. I am a big fan of Oolong and a friend told me about Big Red Robe. I can’t wait for my next cup. I have to say, this really has my attention. It’s delicious. I’ve never had a tea that left me feeling like I had breakfast! This is like a Brunello Montalcino. I say start your day with Big Red Robe and end your day with Brunello and you’ve had a great day!

Ridicagood! Dave, you were right.

My Yunnan got here yesterday and I showed the patience to wait until this morning to have it. This is some smooth tea. Plenty of flavor and absolutely no bite. Love it!

House hunting all day in the rain. I’m worn out and stomach in knots.

This freaking tea is amazing! This has to be the smoothest Yunnan I have ever had, no lie. I feel much better now.

I had to redeem my day. It has been a rough one with two plane flights, delays, etc. Man, what a relief it was to open this bag of rooibos tea and be taken in with the smooth flavor and aroma! This is one of the creamiest teas I have ever had. I’m relaxed and ready for bed now.

I’m going to have to try this again at a longer infusion time…I thought it was nice but thought it would have more Lemon Meringue taste. How long did you infuse for!? I really want to find that correct time to enjoy my cuppa to the fullest extent! I still have high hopes for this one!

I think it was around 5 or 6 minutes. Full boil and then I drank it much cooler. I’m in love! ;-)

This lightly flavored green tea is quite the treat! It’s a little lime with even less coconut taste so for those who aren’t sure about flavored greens you might like this! It’s juicy and sweet and fun! Not much for a smell and it’s typical green tea looking liquid but still nice!!!

The dry leaf smells odd. It doesn’t smell like melon or yogurt or white tea. It’s really hard to describe.

Wet leaf smell – a vegetable – but I couldn’t tell you which one.

It’s a typical white tea color for the liquid.

And smells like white tea.

The taste…well, it tastes like white tea! I can taste a melon taste…more like a honeydew melon. Can’t taste a yogurt taste but you can tell something makes it smoother…so I will chalk that up as the yogurt!

Thumbs up for being a creative blend. It’s tasty and refreshing. Regardless of how hot the water may be it seems to give me a warm and cozy feeling even after sipped/swallowed.

FUN.

I’m always amazed at the maliabilty of Tea. I recently tried a kombucha plumb green tea, and I found it remarkable how the dried colonys came alive upon adding water.

It’s a Rooibos ever so slightly flavored with lemon meringue – steeped for approx 4-5 minutes…was hoping for more lemon meringue flavor…will steep for at least 7 next time.

This is the woodiest oolong I have had in a long, long time. Maybe I over steeped??? I will try this again. It’s ok but I’m not convinced it’s an award winner in my book…yet…that could change, however…I will try it again. For now…it’s just OK.

mmmmmm
The dry leaves smell different to me than other dragon wells. I usually notice a papery smell but this particular blend smells vegital. I didn’t think that was possible because I didn’t think dried veggies could possibly retain the green smell and I still don’t think actual food can but these dry tea leaves do.
The vegital smell in the dry leaves disappears with steeping leaving toasty and sweet broth with no detectable spinach type flavors which I had been expecting because of the smell. This is an extremely light tea and I will experiment with longer steep times to see where the over steeping point is and how robust the flavor can become.
Mouth feel is more on the dry and airy side. This does not feel like a robust tea on this steep but again I will experiment with long steep times to try to pull the robustness out.

Things that make you go Hummmmm…
I don’t usually care for chamomile but this is a fairly nifty tea…the lemon makes it…but thank the tea gods that it isn’t obnoxious lemony like CS or other ‘cheapo’ brands I know of…lol…

Try it…you might like it!

It seems I have 2 sample bags of this…
I randomly chose this one out of my stash because the last several ‘bagged tea attempts’ have left me wanting…

This is much better…sigh…
And that’s a GOOD sigh…
A sigh of tea relief!

You sure have access to a lot of tea! How many cups do you drink per day?

TeaEqualsBliss 15 years ago

At least 6 a day…but usually more…norm is somewhere between 6 and 12-ish most days…esp during the work week

Ricky 15 years ago

Vanilla and cream sounds delicious. Earl Grey… ehhh…

EvaPeva 15 years ago

Cheers to that!

How’s the caffeine uptake on this one? What kind of leaves do they use for the tea, is it china black?

Taken Plain.
This oolong is on the lighter side of the fermentation scale but retains a nuttier more robust flavor than pouchong grade without the heavy mouth feel of more robust oolongs.
Nice tea. Very re-steepable.
