8 Tasting Notes
I was recommeded this ‘shou’ last time I went to their store. So far, I’m enjoying this.
I easily got 6 great steeps out of it in my yixing, steep times ranging from 15 seconds to 40 seconds for the last one. I’m sure you could get more out of it.
It has an earthy smell, as you’d expect, with a tiny hint of green (ish) tea. I get the same ‘hint’ in taste as well: It’s surprisingly refreshing, and sweet. This ‘fresh’ sensation will stay for a few minutes.
It’s been awfully cold and rainy lately. We even had our first snowfall (~2cm) a few days ago. Winter is coming as they say in Game of Thrones. I don’t remember having snow that early, it’s not even Halloween yet. It’s alright, this tea provides me the warmth I need to get through winter.
Preparation
After reading comments here, to be honest I was not expecting much. I was not disappointed. For a cheap shou pu’erh, it’s ok.
I’ve put one of those bonbons in my yixing, rinsed it, and let it steep for about 3 minutes. It was a mistake, I only wanted to do a 1 minute steep. It has the earthy smell you’d expect from a shou pu’erh, but weak. And so the taste. I won’t do multiple steeps for now. I had a cold last week, so maybe that’s why I don’t get much taste. I’ll try it again in a few days. I may change my rating if my experience is better.
Preparation
When I was told 2 weeks ago by an employee that they were getting this tea, I was excited. I bought a 100g today, and I was eager to try it. It did not disappoint.
The pearls have a strong floral smell. Obviously it smells like jasmine with a hint of lilac (keep in mind I’m still recovering from a cold). The taste is very refreshing, perfect after a copious dinner. I don’t get the caramel and honey notes they are mentioning. I was hoping for the Yunnan black tea to be more present, but I’m still satisfied. It’s exactly what you’d expect of a good jasmine tea.
Highly recommeded.
Preparation
I love spicy food. After reading comments, I was looking forward to try this one.
It’s a great blend. It smells very fruity, but the taste is not too overwhelming. It does pack some heat, but in my opinion nothing anyone can’t handle. As others said, the taste is mostly mango, but you will feel the heat going down your throat. The feeling lasts for a few seconds only.
I’m looking for something spicier, but this one will certainly do for now. Perfect after a good steak or anything grilled on the BBQ. Recommended.
Preparation
First things first, they say it’s been aged for 5 years: what does it mean? Is this a 2006? 2007? Does it mean it stops aging once I buy it? I guess it doesn’t really matter, I get what they’re trying to say.
Anyway, I like this Pu-erh.
You can smell that this tea is young has just starting turning to earth. I don’t get how anyone can compare the smell of it to fish. I like the taste. It’s rich, full-bodied and yet refreshing. The fact that this tea is still young gives you a mix of vegetal and mineral (earthy) flavours.
Definitely recommended to those who are new into pu-erhs.

I wanted to try an older pu-erh, taste and smell the difference, so I gave this one a try.
It has a strong earthy smell and the description of leaving a pleasant mineral sensation is absolutely correct. It’s quite comforting. However, I thought that the taste was slightly thin, or I should say, thinner than I expected. Overall, it’s an enjoyable experience, and I would still recommend it.
