149 Tasting Notes
I’ve been wanting to try something with pu’erh in it for a while now, so I finally broke down and bought this blend (since I heard it is like pu’erh with training wheels). This is an excellent breakfast blend. It starts out tasting a lot like Irish breakfast, then finishes with cocoa and an earthy flavor that I assume is the pu’erh. The aftertaste is long and pleasing. Even though this contains chocolate, I wouldn’t really consider it a flavored tea – the chocolate just kind of rounds out and compliments the flavor of the tea. I really appreciate that the chocolate flavor that is there tastes real, not artificial like so many other chocolate teas. This tea probably won’t wow anyone, but it is just a very good tea all around. Prepared with almond milk and stevia.
This is a good, cheap, pure assam tea (that you can get in bags – perfect for at work). It’s great when you want something strong to wake you up. Assam is my favorite tea because of its strength and malty flavor, and this doesn’t disappoint. It may be a little harsh and bitter, but nothing some milk and sweetener can’t fix. Prepared with almond milk and stevia. I can’t wait to try it with some flavored stevia!
Yum! The caramel flavor is strong and reminds me of the really buttery taste of caramel corn. It is almost a butterscotch type taste, but not quite (I normally hate butterscotch). The vanilla flavor isn’t overly strong. This tea is great when I’m feeling really lazy and just want something warm and comforting. I don’t think it’s possible to screw this tea up, I’ve oversteeped it many times and it has still tasted fine. Prepared with almond milk and stevia.
A basic black breakfast blend. This tea is robust with just a little bitterness. It’s decent, but nothing spectacular. It kind of seems like a strong cross between Irish and English breakfast. I would prefer the flavor be a bit more malty. Prepared with stevia and almond milk.
I must have done something wrong on this one, because it was seriously bitter. Unfortunately, this is the only bag I had. From what I can taste (besides the bitterness) this tea probably has potential. I could taste some pear, especially in the aftertaste. Prepared with stevia.
