5 Tasting Notes
Chai is probably my favorite tea. I have tried many and often disappointed. That said, I am highly surprised by the negative reviews on pre bagged tea. The flavors are strong and clear. Included are star anise and vanilla which I look for in Chai. I steep it for 5-7 minutes and usually drink it straight, occasionally with a splash of unsweetened almond milk. I don’t detect any bitter flavor either way. Very enjoyable.
Preparation
This was one of my first ventures with mate a few years ago. Lucky for me I enjoy chai and this is a slightly chocolatey version. I steep it for 10-12 minutes in very hot water and top it off with a splash of chocolate almond milk. Good evening drink for me as it often replaces dessert.
Preparation
The only green tea available at lunch today. I was apprehensive. Turns out I really enjoyed this. After looking at the ingredient list I was afraid it was going to be terribly fruity. It was not. I like the tartness of hibiscus and it is pronounced in this cup. I didn’t get much pomegranate. I may purchase this for an occasional cup for home.
Preparation
The good news, smells slightly of hazelnuts and cloves dry and quite lovely while brewing. The bad news, the flavor is nice but very weak. It was difficult to identify any distinct spices. Not good, not bad. Bland. I should add that I like a very strong chai.
Preparation
I picked this up on a whim last week. I don’t mind the occasional ‘fruity’ tea, while I prefer spicy, and I like mangos. That said I found the artificial mango flavor and scent completely overwhelming. I could barely finish the cup. I actually feel guilty, but I’m going to throw the rest of the box in the trash.
