Def not one for the bitter haters and new to pu. This young sheng has a savory profile, Vegetal, grassy, spinach. The best part of this tea is the long lasting squeaky spinach and floral aftertaste. Later steeps get dry and bitter, but then the longer it goes the more face melter it gets. I got 17 infusions with 200f. I found this tea did best at 200 than boil.

I found this ripe puer very clean in taste. The notes are earthy, woodsy, cherry, and sweet. No funk, dry, fish, or anything weird. It is also a ripe puer that doesn’t have wet storage, library book, rotting leaves, and compost flavors that some prefer.

It is a good new to puer tea or for someone who wants super clean taste.

I’ve had this sample kicking around for a while, I made it grandpa style.

This is pretty good jin xuan. It is milky, a bit buttery, sweet, and lingering floral aftertaste. The texture is lip balmy slick. It grandpas quite well and it didn’t get bitter on me. Gorgeous big leaf too!

I’m spending the weekend going through tea samples I got from the Steepster puer TTB many trips to my house. I am not sure what round this tea was in.

This tastes old, musty, rotting forest floor, super stank pu. It is good and I know people here who love dat musty old rot pu would love this tea! The age has done this tea well.

Cheap old tea! This 1982 tastes like a liubao and not Sun Moon Lakey anymore. It is musty old water logged books, ash, charcoal, wet stones and more must. Ride this tea a long time and it cleans up to sweet, mineral and camphor.

I really didn’t like the thin body on this one and I was really unimpressed my tea was very twiggy and had a rock in it. But hey, it’s $5 and 1982, what did you expect?

From the Dark matter group buy, steeped during a google hang out with other steepsters.

First steeps were quite weak, but mineral and wet pile. I went crazy and did an aggressive long steep and got one excellent cup of rich, thick, earthy, and smooth. The next infusion however was horrific as it was so bitter it was rising up my nose. It is really impressive to get bitter out of a shou, hahhaa! So yeah, maybe take a more moderate approach to this tea and insane like I did.

Overall not bad, if I had some more I’d experiment again.

This one is sold out now, but was a pretty decent price for age. The notes are pretty nice, a good chugging. Nice mineral notes, bit of camphor, with a nice apricot fragrance. Slightly dry feeling.

I got quite a few infusions, say 12 or 15.

Very true to the name, 2016 Daily Drinker is a daily drinker. Open your mouth and guzzle it kind of tea. Steep it well (200f or lower) and you’ll get something pretty mellow, unoffending, and not very bitter. There is a bit of thick body and the notes are sweet like raisins and some vegetal arugula salad. If you are new to puer, this would be a great tea. The price is great too for something that is ready to drink now.

If you are not new to puer and don’t want a daily drinker, this puer is too basic for you as there isn’t much that stands out. The wrapper is freaking sweet though.

This is the first 2016 (not including Fade) of the White2tea line up I tried. This puer has a yiwu character of soft, sweet, apricot, bit grassy, and quite light in taste. What makes this tea good is the thick loose custard body and floral fragrance after each sip. Push it hard and you can get some delicious apricot explosions. The tea has low dryness, no bitterness, no smoke. You can chug Diving Duck as it is so easy to drink. Hard to say whether a newbie pu drinker would like this as it is pretty subtle, but yet not complex enough for a long time drinker. It would all have to go down to personal taste on what you like in a young sheng.

Number rating this tea is hard, i keep bouncing 85 or 90. A screw it, no number rating for you duck.

My favorite out of the 2016 Floating Leaves High Mountain oolongs. This one has good balance of floral, buttery, and sweet with a thick body. The thick creamy body is what I like best about this oolong. It does well gaiwan or bowl style. I even boil this oolong and it doesn’t get too dry.

I did a 5 oolong comparison. I found ShanLinXi was my favorite. The DaYuLing tasted better (gaiwan only, it wasn’t good in a bowl), but the ShanLinXi price is much better for me, haha!
