drank Hunan Mao Jian by Harney & Sons
3398 tasting notes

I can’t believe there is no tasting note from me for this. I just finished my second tin and was excited to put in a sipdown…but I can’t since it was never in my online cupboard to begin with. How did this happen? We drink this frequently with Asian take out! It is one of our favorites! But not a note to be seen.

Anyway, this one is great because it is organic, resteeps pretty well, and it has enough flavor that you can taste it even with food, in spite of the fact that it isn’t a sour or astringent green. It has great flavor, smooth, and goes down nicely with or without food. Some greens seem to disappear flavor-wise if you are eating and others are too bitey to drink alone if you can taste them with food.

Sadly, I can’t find it on the Harney website. They have one called Top Mao Jian that is even more expensive than this was, but I might give it a go sometime with a coupon.

Bio

I am a music teacher, tutor, and former homeschool mom (25 years!) who started drinking loose leaf tea about fifteen years ago! My daughters and I have tea every day, and we are frequently joined by my students or friends for “tea time.” Now my hubby joins us, too. His tastes have evolved from Tetley with milk and sugar to mostly unadorned greens and oolongs.

We have learned so much history, geography, and culture in this journey.

My avatar is a mole in a teacup! Long story…
