drank Masala Chai by American Tea Room
2966 tasting notes

Sipdown! I had a sample sachet of this I got free with my last Am. Tea Room order. Unfortunately I oversteeped it. Maybe I should have had this iced.

The base was super bitter (I had to dilute it 50%, and it was still bitter), but I wish I had soy milk and sweetner because this could be fixed. Maybe this tea isn’t made to be had plain, or maybe I ruined it by leaving the bag in a few minutes too long. I really like the spice combo (perfect blend of ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, clove, and pepper). It is also vaguely nutty.

If the base was smooth, this would have been 90/100. Because the bitterness names it undrinkable and I don’t have any soy milk, it is more like a 30/100. I’m not going to rate it because I feel like I should have payed more attention to the brew time (it might be really good brewed correctly), but I would never buy a tea so finicky for myself.

Bio

I am a biochem major hoping for a career in research genetics and evolutionary biology. I love science fiction and spend too much of my time reading comic books. I’m a passionate keeper of spiders, cacti, and exotic plants. I eat a vegan, plant-based diet for moral and environmental reasons (I mention this only because it is relevant to which flavoured teas I drink).

I drink mostly flavoured and low caffeine teas/tisanes, but I will try anything twice. As far as pure teas go, I gravitate towards whites, yellows, and jade oolongs. I’m always open for trades and sample sales/exchanges. Message me any time :)

My cupboard is mostly up to date. For a more comprehensive list, see my stash spreadsheet here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-HjWKR3um-xEnj6HC9vMvKXOAyj_bpW5u_2ixEC20-k/edit?usp=sharing
