Not so much a tearoom as a loose-tea shop, but don’t let that fool you, you will be drinking tea here. A beautiful space, customer built, bright, open, really calming. The employees are very friendly, very well trained, and are more than happy to brew up a tea you would like to taste. There are always a couple teas pre-brewed on hand to try when you walk in too. Their selection is SOLID, including some rarity batches of odds and ends including some Pu Erh bricks. The only place I have seen selling single origin Matchas too! Offering classes on the regular, everything from Tea 101 to Blending Herbal Teas, MEM’s retail space is great. Can’t wait to see what else they do!
Made a point of coming to the main location while on a 4 day vacation in Montreal. Bought some loose Pu erhs to bring home then sat in the tea-room for a break from the day. Beautiful space, just a world apart from the city even through you are right there in the center of it. I had the 2008 Menghai in a beautiful Purion teapot, which I poured over 10 times and drank for 90 minutes. Partner had their Matcha, which in all honesty, was the best Matcha I’ve ever had. Not a single note of grass, just, smoooooooooth. Will be coming here every time I’m in the city for a breather and some amazing tea.
