6 Tasting Notes
I was skeptical about this tea given all the reviews so I brewed it as I do most other teas from Twinings, and then iced it. BITTER! Blech! I sweetened with stevia and it was still very bitter. I let is sit for about an hour and it mellowed out pretty well. I gave it another hour to mellow out and it was drinkable. I’ll try again in a few days with less time on the clock and see how it goes. Unfortunately, here at work I have little control over the water temp. For now 50ish rating.
Preparation
While I am no Green Tea expert, I can honestly say I love this tea. Its nice and smooth and the only time I found it bitter was when I severely over brewed it (near boiling water, meant to steep for 2 min. forgot and left it sit for nearly 10!) I have been able to get 4 good infusions on a portion of this tea before the flavor degrades. Also its one of the few Jasmine Greens I’ve tried (out maybe 10ish different brands) that actually has Jasmine buds IN the tea. Very nice!
Preparation
A good middle of the road Ceylon. As usual with teas I havn’t tried before, I brewed 12oz. enough to make a tumbler of iced tea and have about 2- 4 oz left over to taste hot. Used 1/32nd tsp stevia powder (equal to 1tsp sugar) to sweeten the hot and 1/8 tsp stevia in the iced. While it was nothing stellar, it was a decent tea. Others have said it was “dusty” and I can see what they mean after tasting it though I would say more earthy than dusty. Slightly bitter at the time and temp i prepped it at, but I like a note of bitterness in many of my teas.
Preparation
This is a STRONG, in your face, malty infusion. For me the recommended 3 minute steep at boiling was a bit more than I could handle, so I lowered the temp slightly and halved the time and its excellent! And the second infusion is just as good as the first.
Love, love, love, love, LOVE! Excellent hot in the mornings to get you going, and equally nice iced during the day to keep you moving! This is a staple in my cupboard!
Preparation
I drink a lot of this particular tea, however I prefer making Iced Tea from it. Great all day long!
One thing I simply love to do is mix this with Boston Tea Co. Jasmine Green. I blend 1 tsp. Twinings Earl Grey, 1/2 tsp Boston Tea Co. Jasmin Green and brew at 180 for 2 minutes. Add a touch of Stevia Extract to sweeten and pour over ice. Wonderful and refreshing!
